mealexme Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Started the bandit up for its monthly warm up/check over for rust/pump of the brakes etc last night, it was dark and I realised that the rear brake light doesnt come on when you touch the brakes like it should, infact it doenst come on until you stand on the brakes. As I said, it was dark so I couldnt have a look for where the switch is located, but I presume it is connected to the brake lever like it is on the front. Can it be moved/the rear lever/pedal (not sure of its "technical" name) be moved to sort the problem? And is it a difficult/fiddly thing to do (my definition of difficult is taking panels off the bike, or moving something apart from the lever to get to the switch ) Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 it will sit in a bracket close to the foot pedal and connectted to the pedal with a spring the switch for the rear is normally adjustable Quote
Tango Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Most likely Alex it'll work on the hydraulic pressure in the brake master cylinder......but I think you'll find it's probably OK anyway. They are not generally adjustable.....but will work fine when you are riding the bike as you only want the light coming on when you are actually braking and not when you are resting your foot on the pedal.... eastanglianbiker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 switch will look similar to this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Bandit ... 4ab2216c09 Quote
Stu Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 As eab has said it looks like the one above They have a habit of corroding and not working right they can be taken off and pulled apart and cleaned They can also be adjusted too which I hope that's all it is It is located above the rear part of the brake lever you have to remove it from the bracket and there is a screw on the bottom part which is what you screw up or down to adjust Quote
mealexme Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 cool, thanks I shall have a look next time I get her out.But from experience of my side stand on the ped, that type of spring is going to be a bitch to get back on! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 its nothing like the same kind of pressure alex it is only a small spring connecting switch to pedal u can do them with ur fingers Quote
Stu Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Nah its really easy its not a strong one I can do them without tools You can remove it and adjust by just lifting the switch up and leaving the spring attached Quote
mealexme Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 So, finally gotround to doing it (well, I have got two months today to do everything that needs doing)turns out you dont even have to take it off. just disconnect the electrics, and unscrew the top bit and then reconnect to the loom. Simples Quote
