sprocket/wheel issue?

My brother was riding his 125 the other day when his chain went (again, keep buying a new split link but won't pay for a decent new chain)

anyway it came off and wrapped around the sprocket area and he fish tailed and came to a stop, i went and fitted the new split link for him and we started the bike to find the chain and sprocket spins but the wheel doesn't, as if it doesn't have any form of connection with each other, any ideas?

sorry can't provide pics, it's parked up at his misses at the moment and he is too cheap to just pay for a van for collection and too lazy to just call the AA!

You are going to have to take the wheel and sprocket off to find what is broken.

Could have broken the alloy part of the cush drive ?

are you sure the rear sprocket is turning at all,if the chain keep jumping off the check if there are any teeth left on the sprocket

Sounds like he shouldn't be riding. That's the kind of thing that'll kill ya in the wrong place! basic maintenance affects more than resale value!!!!!

Lucky it wrapped round the wheel and locked it. If it had wrapped round his foot you'd be posting on a different forum.

Others have not been so lucky. Bikes have crashed, i've see engines smashed and also heard of rider being badly injured through broken chains wrapping round there leg. Don't fix it with another link get it sorted. He owt to count himself really lucky.

Makes that new chain and sprocket seem cheap now doesn't it
