jnr_zx6r Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Hi guys,I am Upgrading my sprocket and chain combo to -1 +2Just wondering if anyone can point me in the rite direction to where I can buy sprocket and chain combos and also while I am here does anyone have any input into doing this? Quote
mattycoops43 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Thats a major change,,you might want to invest in a cheap sprocket on its own first to see what you think of it, front sprocket is very small so -2 is a mahoosive change! and will also magnify the change in the rear sprocket, you might find it makes the thing unrideable. Mick 58 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 You might want to have a play with this: http://www.gearingcommander.com/ Quote

megawatt Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Yep, -1 front, +2 rear is a good combo, puts yer speedo out a bit, but the accel is fantastic. If you can't do it yerself, have a ride down to my place at the end of August and I'll do it for ya? Quote
mattycoops43 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Fair enough, I have just heard most people doing one at a time that's all. it's different if you have experience of it and know what to expect. Quote
Guest philgale Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 My track bike is -1 +2 and its great, loose a bit of top end but only had it bouncing off the limiter in 6th twice so no biggy. Quote
megawatt Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Yes Matty. Dead easy and cheap to go 1 down on the front first, 2 down can cause chain wear and chain guide wear problems. +1 on the back is a waste of time, so +2 or +3 on the back is ok and shouldn't need a longer chain on most bikes, especially with -1 on the front. I reccomend Renthal front and hard anodised Renthal rear. Though Talon and Supersprox Stealth look great! Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks for the replies. I know the change will reduce mpg and effect top speed but I would rather have better mid range and acceleration as I look my twisty roads rather then a roads.I have been struggling to find companies that sell these sprocket sets so have had to email them direct. I did find a renthal set on eBay but will see what the main dealers say first Quote
megawatt Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Main Dealers will just rip you off! Price up with them, try eBay and C&S specialists like B&C Express or Supersprox. If you can't fit em, have a ride down to my place and I'll do it for you. Quote

jnr_zx6r Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Got this booked in for tomorrow so will let you giys know of my opinion Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 Managed to get out last night and headed down to the Ace Cafe. The new chain and sprocket upgrade have made a massive difference. Don't know how much the jumper mod has made but the bike is much smoother and power seems to be delivered a lot better straight through the revs. Quote

I did -1 at the front and +2 at the back (15/45)Do this combo you will not be disappointed and to be honest and stopped me wanting an upgrade to a 750cc Quote
