AdeyT Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 My speedo suddenly stopped working, checked the cable and the bottom end was really rusty and snapped. Picking up a new cable today £9. Was wondering if it would be a good idea to spray wd40 down the new cable and put a bit of copper grease on the ends before fitting it? Quote
Stu Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It should come greased up already and don't use wd40 it will chase any oil in there out wd40 is not a lubricant it will dry out within weeks! If your going to use anything use a light oil Quote
pointblank0 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I have always been in the habbit of removing the cable from its sleeve and applying extra grease (nothing fancy, just standard bearingy type stuff) with my fingers.I re grease every year or so, not sure if required, but it can't hurt! Quote
murp24 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 If you need to lube the new cable use some 3 in 1 oil, works a treat. Used it on my brake cable. Quote
