Guest Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 so hope to do my cbt with in the next 4 weeks. im hoping that learning in this rubbish weather will stand me in good sted.one quest i keep asking myself is tho, when its raining, do you have your visor up? if not how do you clear the rain? Many thanksDanny Quote
Tibbs Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 If you're going quickly a turn of the head will get rid of the rain, otherwise a glove finger does the trick. I'm sure you can buy a gadget that fits on your index finger and acts like a windscreen wiper!I did crack the visor a bit if things got steamed up, but otherwise the visor stayed down. Quote
robbie1 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i would alway have it down cos of your eyes but when it rains i tend not to close it all the way as it mists up and just wipe your thumb over the visor now an then and it will clear the rain off. good luck for your cbt Quote
Guest Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 thanks guys, i was just out in my van earlier and thinking bloody hell i can hardly see and my windscreen wipers are flat out. how badly does it affect your riding? Cheers Danny Quote
priest Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i also ride with my visor one position up only. Rain does not affect my vision much as i mostly ride in the city low-medium speed Quote

Cheers Danny Just as in a car, wet roads massively increases your braking distances. If it's raining as badly as it has been over the past 2 days I either:1) Stay inside2) take it VERY steady Quote
Daytona Paul Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 On modern tyres we lose around 20% grip. Keep everything smooth and it is still safe to make progress. Biggest problem is visibility, especially if you wear glasses. Pin lock insert for the visor is a godsend, but keep the visor closed and vents open if possible. Being an instructor I ride in all weathers and rain holds no fear ice and snow on the otherhand....... Quote
Tango Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Good luck with the CBT..... A lot of bike gloves have a wiper blade or pad on one of the fingers or thumb on the left hand. Heavy rain is not normally a problem.....heavy spray on the other hand can be.... I've not had my Bell lid steam up yet and I've ridden in some fairly horrible conditions.....but I've heard nothing but good things for Pinlocks.... Quote
ManInASuitcase Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Never used a glove with a wiper blade on but I did hear they can easily scratch youre visor. If small particles of grit are on their and you wipe youre finger across the inevitable will happen. Quote
