Early warning for the Southend Shakedown on Easter Monday 1st April 2013.

Hopefully the weather will be better this year and we'll actually make it down there....

For those who don't know of this event it's a rideout from the Ace Cafe in London to Southend Seafront and is held anually on Easter Monday. More info can be found on the Ace Cafe website.

We normally make our own way down there and meet Bonniebird's brother en-route.

We'll post nearer the time with our route from Cambridgeshire and departure time etc..... 8-)

Just gonna bump this one as it's only a few weeks away.......will be planning routes to maybe pick up a few tags as well....... 8-)

As long as it's dry I will be going with my youngest daughter, she came on the Brighton burnup with me last year and loved it.

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Can you think about the easiest place to meet you once I've crossed the river and what time please Bob?

Alan......we'll probably head in the back way from Chelmsford to Rayleigh so that we can hook-up with Mandy's brother.....so I don't know if you want to meet us there (Hungry Horse near Rayleigh station)?......not spoken with Peter yet, but we normally meet up with him around 12:00....maybe slightly earlier.....then head into Southend the back way to avoid all the traffic. So let me know if this is OK Alan and we'll arrange a rendezvous......and I'll give directions if you need them...... 8-)

When we head down from here we'll avoid the motorways........I've done a Google Map for the route for those who are interested.......

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/myplaces ... F8&t=m&z=6

We may head back a slightly different route depending on time etc.

Obviously this is all depending on the Great British Weather.......

Yes, that's the pub, my brother lives opposite. I heard from him this evening and he's definitely around for the Shakedown

Cold but dry is the forecast....so I think we're deffo on for this...... 8-)

Anyone from the Cambs area coming down?......plotted a nice cross country route....but as it's gonna be chuffin cold we may just go for the boring but faster blat down the M11/M25/A127 so we can get in the cafe's down on the seafront quicker to warm up.....

But let me know how ya feel about this....if the consensus is cross country then we'll do that..... 8-)

Normally at the Shakedown they have a special agreement with the parking agencies.....so, unless you park somewhere really silly you'd be OK. They have large areas of parking cordoned off for bike parking and plenty of marshalls to point you to where you can park..... 8-)

Was great meeting up again Bob and Mandy . Sorry we were a bit late, but it was sooooo frickin cold that we stopped on the A127 at the Roadhouse cafe for a warm up coffee and breakfast. The parking was a bit chaotic in Sarfend and I even lost Rob for a while until we met up for another coffee. Great seeing all the bikes and trikes and bumping into you again just as we were about to leave.

Took ages to get onto the A13 and then we were straight off at Basildon to meet Dave. He had another operation a few weeks ago and is basically housebound for a few months, so he can't do any work on his mini or sell his stripple.

Had a good ride home and got back at 1900 , just in time for dinnner and beer.

Look forward to seeing you at Santa Pod or SCR when the racebike is ready

180 mile round trip....and it was freezing when we left in the morning......and didn't get a lot warmer throughout the day.....but worth it anyway...... 8-)

Didn't take many pics.
