Ricky Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Got them all printed off, need to have a rag handy to clean my hands before i flick through them starting to get dirty =pI had a go at take the right side of the case off today;http://imageshack.us/a/img20/921/imagewrb.th.jpgShould've bled it first Also I tried to take this nut off I'm assuming it's the crankshaft seal but it looks bent?http://imageshack.us/a/img138/4254/imagefno.th.jpgIs that normal or should I buy new ones? Mrbarry Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I use my laptop and have a USB 'workshop mouse' that is filthy greasy. Don't have to touch the laptop that way. Quote
Ricky Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 I have a gaming desktop PC so I don't really want that to be left in my garage, appreciate the idea though, the printed off booklet will be fine Quote

Its not a good photo but I think you are looking at the lock washer.....you need to tap that down with a hammer and a small chisel so that you can get a socket on it...then when you re tighted it you need to bend it up again. It's to stop the nut coming loose.. Quote
Ricky Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Thanks a lot I thought it had bent not on purpose this is good to hear Quote
Ricky Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Also, when i twist the nut the whole thing turns around is there a tool I can buy to stop this happening? Quote
Ricky Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Just bought;Dashboard Fairing Panel - Old one cracked when I 'accidently' threw it over in anger Front fairing - Old one cracked, same storyFull Gasket Set - Rebuilding engineNew Battery - Absolutely dead, left ignition on and wont charge New starter motor - Old one screeched when trying to startAnd an adjustable pin wrench Should start to see a lot of progress in the next week Quote
Guest Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah i use my Gaming pc for everything Who cares if my mouse gets covered in engine grease But on a serious note, and back on topic..Your building up a nice list of parts there fella..Like mine, just as it seams my list is slowly getting smaller, i find more bits i want to buy, and add to the list Quote
Ricky Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Haha, it's not as much the grease its more the damp garage as it seems to be colder in the garage than outside electricals don't like being damp Yeah, every time I go on ebay there is a new part I need for my bike to make it that little bit smarter but it's only a 50cc and don't particularly want to be spending an absolute fortune on it as much as I'd like too as I have my 125cc bike in 2 months to buy Quote
Ricky Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Nipped to halfords and bought a complete set of spanners and other tools to help me with my engine rebuild really don't want to mess it up Only 50 quid a set so not exactly teng tools or snap on but they'll do the job Quote
Ricky Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Right well, I took all them cigs out quite easily and quickly but does the flywheel have to be out before I open the crank case?http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3742/imageiiiv.jpghttp://img560.imageshack.us/img560/4929/imagejwv.jpg Quote
Ricky Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Yayy, new parts Still waiting on my adjustable pin wrench though http://imageshack.us/a/img96/4868/imagetbg.th.jpg Quote
Ricky Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/2093/imageclwc.jpgRight, can this still be used? Also there's was a lot of debris and rubbish at the bottom of the crankcase I'm also assuming the shouldn't of been there? ;D Quote
Guest Hodgy Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I'm sure you could use it as a paperweight, but I certainly wouldn't use it for a piston Quote
Ricky Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Haha, I was being sarcastic, sorry But this bike is smashing up pistons quicker than I can buy them Quote
Ricky Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Hi guys not been posting for a while, I've been working all hours working =/ I took all the engine to pieces changed all the gaskets cleaned the debris at the bottom of the crank case etc installed new gaskets, compared the seals on my crankshaft to new ones off the internet and they looked the same, no leakage everything put back together...Two questions...If you've seen that picture of my new piston then you'll know it can't be used but I though about putting the very original one back in...Would this work?http://imageshack.us/a/img9/9462/imagebwu.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img802/5580/imagezwi.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img199/1502/imagekoo.jpgAlso what oil do I put in the crankcase and how far do I fill it up? Quote
Guest Hodgy Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 One thing I've noticed, your new piston broke up around the skirt, and this one has lots of scoring along it, where it's obviously making contact with the cylinder walls, I don't think it should be doing that, have you checked the bearings both in the big end where it connects to the Crankshaft and the gudgeon pin that holds it to the con rod? Check for any play and/or movement, else you could be back to square one very quickly Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 its a 2 stroke is it not? if it is 2 stroke then u put no oil in crank cases apart from where it gotes around the gearbox but what you should do is lightly coat verything to do with the crank with 2 stroke oil to lubricate it when you are rebuilding it first you need to find out why it is smashing pistons up in 5 mins of being built check play in big end is a good place to start Quote

It's because I'm trying to rush it.. It seems dead obvious to check ah it's all going to have to be took apart again...Thanks a lot Quote

I'm going to take it all apart so I'd expect a lot of pictures and questions coming everyone's way soon! Quote

Ricky Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Ahh, I'm so annoyed :@ but you gotta do what you gotta do thanks for the help Quote
Guest Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Nice piston I remember i was racing about in my mates RS turbo a couple of years ago, and bang, valve came into contact with the piston, damn that made a state of the crank casing.. piston and con-rod pushed straight through the side of the block..And even that piston didnt look as fecked as that one Quote
