If a council warden sees it or whichever electric board comes to service the lamp you will get told to move it I expect, I think a copper would have to be very bored or in a bad mood to do anything if they saw it. :)

Not sure if it's technically illegal or not but even if it is I highly doubt anybody would give you a ticket or arrest you for it! I guess it partly depends on where you live. In bigger cities bikes are chained to lamp posts all the time so you'd be much less likely to be asked to move it than if you chained it to the only lamp post in the village :-).

I live in a small welsh town which has a very bored and power trippin police force - and I am english and am a long haired devil.

Next weeks town herald headline

" FAG BURNT AT THE STAKE FOR DAMAGING LAMP POST"

I cannot think of any law that stops you from doing that. You may be liable to a ticket for where you are parked so that you can chain the bike to the lamp post.

If you go to maps.google.com and put in ll535ad

zoom into street view and the default view is looking right at the very lamppost

cant see a problem there, wouldnt be obstructing anyone or anything so you might as well do it :D

Alrighty, Im going to put a chain on it with a disc lock alarm. In this area people are more likely to trash the bike than steal it, thats what happened to my last bike. :(
