SebaManiac Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Hi guys!My friend got YBR125 and soon he will have to pass his first MOT test. Problem is that frame of his bike is slightly bended to the left (he felt down). I check MOT check list and there is nothing mentioned about frame exept corrosion or rust. Handlebar is not touchung fuel tank and this frame is not cousing any problems during riding, braking or turning. I took out all panels and other stuff to check the frame ageins some rust,corrosion and cracs but frame looks new. It is even dificult to find out that frame is bended. Will he pass his MOT with this? I attach some image i made. Quote
Tango Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Are you sure that the frame is bent?......it would normally take a good hit to bend the frame..... Are you sure it's not just the forks are a bit twisted in the yokes?..... Quote

Tango Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Well.....if you can see that the frame is bent while sitting on the bike then the tester could well spot this....and the bike will not pass an MOT...... It must have been a fairly bad crash for the frame to get bent.....he didn't simply throw it up the road then..... Quote

Smokin Joe Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Yes im sure becouse when i seat on it i can see that frame is slightly bended To be able to tell a frame is bent while sitting on the bike it would have to be bowed like a banana, and as Tango said it would take a massive wallop to do that, destroying a lot of other things in the process. I'd go for forks if anything is out of line. How does the bike ride? Quote

I will try to straight forks then. However i tested my motorbike on Dyno test after i done some modifications and its not 10hp anymore its 16hp Printout will upload later when i will modified it more and pass my first MOT. Quote

That part of the test is to check that the back wheel is properly aligned, and has little to do with the frame itself. If it isn't aligned it's a simple 5 minute task to loosen the rear wheel and properly align it. Quote
Voodoo Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I've had bikes with bent frames in the past and they never failed an MOT. As long as the handlebars don't touch the frame or tank it should be ok. I had one bike that always veered over to the left, but the MOT station never spotted this because they never rode it. Quote

Neither would I Lol, it was fine as long as you lean't over to the right when riding with no hands, although it was the buckled front wheel that was the bigger danger Quote
