techno Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I was never a fan of the kid in moto 2, he did have the best stuff and with no weight limit things were stacked in his favour, but sayig that you could see the talent. Now after 2 races in moto gp, he really has impressed, people including me expeted him to throw the bike at the scenery alot ala Lorenzo however tho hes had crashes the 2 races hes fought he has been excellent.Watching him ride cota this weekend we can now totally forget stoner as this kid imo is more exciting to watch already and with age on his side if anyone can beat agos record it is imo him as there doesnt seem to be anyone outside say lorenzo and the odd occasion this season at least pedders and an aging rossi that can beat the guy.So just wondered what other peoples thoughts are on the new youngest winner of a senior class gp. bex Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 i have rated him for years but i did not expect him to be at the front so convincingly straight away. i was expecting him to be around 5th-7th. Cal is doing well too, i hope they manage to get him the straight line he needs Quote
Tankbag Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I wish I'd stuck a tenner on him !I agree with Techno the kid will be a real contender, so long as, he doesn't hurt himself. Really enjoyed watching the race, terrific stuff. Quote
OhJay Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 He's going to own this sport for a long time, isn't he?Phenomenal stuff, absolutely amazed. I was worried he was going to be Simoncelli's recklessness but without the personality and I expected him to take a bit of a world tour of gravel traps this year but he looks like he's staying within himself, doesn't he? Happy to battle with Rossi in Qatar but didn't do anything silly, that superb pass on the end of the long straight was something special but he knew when he was beat and didn't chuck it into anything beyond its or his means as Cal now has 2 races out of 2.It's almost a shame we'll never see him and Stoner on the same bike on the same track, that would have been fascinating. uk190 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Marquez certainly is a talent. Would he be so successful on a lesser bike ? No. But he'd still be exciting to watch a d probably more exciting running mid pack and trading paint. I'm still not convinced he'll go the whole season without a calamity or two. And I hope he doesn't do what doohan did to the sport. I.e. turn it into a race for second for everyone else and take the fun out of the premier class. Quote
megawatt Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 For once I agree with Techno ! Marquez is gonna destroy Pedrosa and own MotoGP this year, if he stays injury free. Great to have Rossi back on a decent bike, but his records are now at risk. Quote
ManInASuitcase Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 He's going to own this sport for a long time, isn't he?I wouldn't be certain about that mate.Spain are churning these kids out at regular intervals, they have a fantastic system in place.Marquez was outstanding but after the recent test at that track it was expected.Looking forward to the rest of the season.
