priest Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 what do you like and what you do not like in your jacket?i personally hate when the pockets are to small to take anything out without removing my gloves and when the zip is too small to open/close with a glove Quote
Zod Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well having two textile jackets I can tell you that one main thing I like them both is that they were worth buying, though one was say £20-£30 cheaper than the other. The first jacket I bought I had it to go with my old Suzuki Burgman, at first I thought it was cool and I wore it constantly including around the house. Done that because I was too lazy to take it off and stick it back on again if I was ever going back out on the bike which was pretty much all the time. The good points - [*]Waterproof/windproof[*][*]Two zipped pockets[*]Mobile phone pocketThe bad points - Though it said on the label that it was 100% waterproof it actually wasn't so at times when it rained heavy then whatever I was wearing under it got soaked. There was only two pockets, I'd rather have about 4 pockets on the jacket. One for spare change, one for paper notes, one for my wallet and one to stick my keys in The jacket I bought just after christmas is a bit better, is actually 100% waterproof though sometimes the insides can get a tiny bit damp though it's nothing I can complain about. The inner lining is better than the one on my old jacket, the new jacket has got better padding than the old as it also has pads on the back and some on the front. Good points - [*]Has yellow/illuminous patch across the shoulders[*]Has a high vis stripe across the shoulders[*]100% water and wind proof[*]Only cost me £20 or £30 cheaper than the old one I boughtBad points -[*]Again only two pockets[*]No mobile phone pocketThink that just about sums it all up Quote
iiisecondcreep Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 My jacket (textile) is designed for gloves to go over the sleeves, but the sleeves are too long for me to be able to do this but as they are narrow its a struggle to fit my gloves under the sleeves! Quote
Tango Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Hmmm....got several jackets....but each has it's own plus points:Triumph Leather Jacket: Don't like: the 2 external pockets....they are on the chest and impossible to get anything out without gloves......with gloves is a complete non starter.Round neck...no collar...so the front acts as a funnel for the wind and insects down the inside.....but recently found a neck warmer for this jacket which attaches to 3 velcro strips inside the jacket....which is much better now.Like: the zip in wind liner for the cooler days......and the inside pocket to stash it when it's not needed.Heavy weight leather and decent hard armour.Perforated leather panels to keep a bit cooler on hot days.Triumph Mesh Textile Jacket:Don't Like: nothing really....good for what it's intended for.Like: Waterproof zip-on outer...that has a stash pocket at the bottom back of the jacket for when it's not needed.2 outer pockets and 2 inner pockets.....enough for what I need really.Well ventilated for hot days.Decent hard armour.Triumph Waterproof Textile Jacket:Don't Like: No zip-out thermal liner......and it's not too warm in cold weather.Like: Lots of external pockets....although only 1 of them states that it is waterproof.Attaches to matching trousers with a zip.Waterproof.Belstaff Textile Jacket:Don't like: no pockets for armour.....armour attached by velcro strips.Like: Zip-out very warm liner.Zipped warm weather vents.Waterproof.2 decent sized external pockets with storm flaps. Not sure what sort of info you are looking for? But these are my jackets.....which cover most weather conditions for me...... Quote
Benn Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I don't particularly like my current jacket because it's a bit short and leaky - couldn't afford anything better at the time!My ideal jacket would be longish with a fleecy lining, a belt around the waste, lots of large pockets both inside and out side, very waterproof and a high collar.
