Stu Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 They are slightly shorter so turn in is quicker they have better valving then stock forks springs aren't spot on but not a million miles away and you can the option of radial brakes Quote

Joeman Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Result Joe......looks like you struck lucky with those fork legs mate....... Lets hope so mate!!I guess i wont know until i've got them on the bike and taken them for a good thrashing Quote
Joeman Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Right, I managed to get some spare time this morning to get the forks fitted.Quite a simple job really. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to lift the front end of the bike off the ground!I ended up using my ratchet strap through a ceiling beam... Here's some pics:Hanging Bike:Leaking Fork:Legless!Artistic Shot:View from above:Both Sets of forks.. Spot the difference!Finished!!And in case you were wondering, the weird yellow walls & ceiling are covered in spray on foam insulation to keep the garage warm and condensation free...Ive not finished it yet as you can see, and it will be boarded over eventually so hidden away. Joeman Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Nice job....all you need now is a run to test 'em out....... yep, I set all the adjustments back to the factory defaults for the bike, and when bouncing them about, they do feel better than the forks i took off, but that might just be because these have oil in them, and my old ones had leaked..weather they do have stiffer springs is something i guess i wont know until i get the bike out on the road, and its looking like its about to dump down with rain, so i'll be waiting till later on before going for a ride. Joeman Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Now set your sag yes i need to... Ive set everything to default as a starting point. Quote
Joeman Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Took the bike out for the first time today since fitting the new forks. They are certainly stiffer!Handling felt great, even on default settings, the turn-in was a lot sharper allowing much quicker direction change without the forks diving.. Also braking felt better, not as much nose diving, but i think i need to change my front pads as i think some of the old fork oil got on the pads I just need to mess about with the setup now, as they are possibly a little too stiff now as i got sore wrists after a three hour ride. LOL Quote
Joeman Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Oh, and i bought some new seals for the old forks too, so i'll still have a go at seal change Quote
