Smokin Joe Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I can't see how the gear lever could have damaged the right hand side of the engine as it is situated on the left. Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 not arsed about grammer just after help, look at time was posted I was fair tired. thank you to those who do want to help!!!! I will post some pictures in the next half hour. Quote
Stu Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 not arsed about grammer just after help, look at time was posted I was fair tired. who cares....I dont not all of us are picky anyway it looks like your replacing that bent gear selecting rod! hope its not a full engine strip to do it! I dont get what you mean about the oil problem though Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 where the oil goes into the engine it was on the 2nd notch on dipstick, now its full to the screw cap? does that make sense? when bike went over all the oil has sat to right hand side of engine where as normal it would level out then b diributed round engine, and the gear lever is leaking oil. bust seal ????? Quote
Stu Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 well with the bent shaft it will cause it to leak when you replace the shaft I would get a seal too that is really odd about the oil it should have settled back down to level and I cant think of anything that would stop it settling Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 sum 1 said 2 me it could possible be the crank case??? I think that's what they said ... but no its been a week and still full to the brim. Quote
Stu Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 well the oil is in the crankcase but whats stopping it going down is a mystery to me unless when it was on its side fuel has pissed through the carb and filled the crankcase I would be looking at dropping the oil and see how much comes out and give it a smell too Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 ok thank you been very helpful will try that tomorrow and see if can find new gear selector 2 Quote
Tango Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 By the looks of that photo....I think the gear selector rod is bent and that'll need a gearbox strip to replace....... Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 looking at the pics the selector shaft is badly damaged and will need repalcing, you will need to drain the oil out of it and remove clutch case anyway so dont panic about oil level at the moment, once you have removed clutch case you might be able to get shaft out without splitting the cases, but you might have to remove the clutch Quote
