Replacing Brake Pads

Hi,


Looking for a bit of advice with my Suzuki GSX600F. Brake fluid levels are touching the lower limits, so looking to change the brake pads. I would appreciate some advice on which EBC pads to get - HH or GG rating, any suggestions would much appreciated?!


On a side note, the fuel gauge is being a bit temperamental. It has a full tank, but jumps between empty and half-full on the gauge, and seems to stick there for a little while. Again, any suggestions would be great!

The HH are sintered......and I'm guessing that the GG are organic (made out of Horses.... :wink: ).......so as Stu says the HH ones are likely to be a bit better.

Personally I use Carbone Lorraine pads on my bikes......and they work pretty good IMHO..... 8-)

Not sure no, but they are looking low and they were noted on the last MOT as getting low. Any other suggestions for a cause?


And I have heard that the HH can damage the dics - im not racing it in any way shape or form so was unsure as to whether or not a needed to top level of performace - would still like to stop though!!

what have pads got to do with fluid levels ( or am I just being a girl here)

Well Cat....as the pad material wears down the caliper pistons need to move further out to compensate.....so the fluid moves down from the master cylinder towards the calipers..... :wink:

Sintered pads can wear the disk rotors a bit more.......but these days the manufacturers have improved the material so that they don't wear them as much as they used to..... :wink:

One thing you don't want to compromise on is your brakes..... :wink:

I used to use carbone lorraine bob and have done for years but thought I would try EBC on a recommendation of a lot of TL owners and I must say I am really really impressed as in I think I will stick to them they feel better then the carbone lorraine :shock:

Cool Stu.....I think the Carbone Lorraine pads are getting harder to get hold of now....changed their name and distribution I think......so I may need to experiment on the next pad change.....which won't be for some time hopefully..... :wink:

replace your pads if they are low and see what your fluid level is like with the pistons pushed back in top up if needed if its been a long time since the fluid was changed (2 years) think about replacing it at the same time if you have never replaced fluid then we can help :)


as for HH killing discs they do cause more wear but you won't see it to be honest :)
