Ricky Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Okay so I got a letter telling me I've got a big fat cheque on its way for damage to my second YZF I've found a nut and bolt set for the fairings on ebay which I'll buy, I obviously won't but back the rusty ones that can be replaced I meant the swing arm bolt and the engine mounting nuts, where can I get new ones?I may be strong this project done faster than I thought
Fozzie Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Just had a little read of this again Liking the powdercoat job, looks nice, although to buy nuts and bolts get some stainless ones off ebay, just enter the size you need/want and usually when I order I get packs of well over 100 for like £10. Going back to the engine, saw you mention flakes of metal everywhere, that's quite a dangerous sign this engine let go quite violently in the past What is damaged? As if you post it this way and I find a mangled mess inside I'm going to put my hands up and say if it's beyond saving So far I'm doing crank case seals and a top end rebuild, but I read the clutch is damaged?Mr Ricky, get me a full diagnosis on that engine I've brought a few engines from the brink back to good serviceable condition but there is a point where the cost would extend so high you may as well buy a second engine and let me rebuild that instead so you have a properly fresh unit!List what others/you think needs doing

I pay for faster delivery on the parts I can fit today on my day off and none of them comes! The only parts that have come are parts I don't need yet like, wheel bearings, battery, headlight, throttle cable I need my new shock absorber! :'(
eastanglianbiker Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 ricky saw this dont know if any good for you http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-tzr-12 ... t_21wt_958
Ricky Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 Hey EAB, just seen this :/I've got all the parts I need for now thanks, Fozzie is rebuilding and repainting the engine I've bought new crank seals, gasket set and should polish up nicely If Fozzie tells me the rust is to deep into the crankshaft and can't be saved I'll be on the look out for another or another engine I've not been doing much with it recently, got the swing arm on with its new shock absorber and that's about all I can do until I man up and start polishing some parts and spraying but it's too cold!
Ricky Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Hey guys sorry I haven't posted much but I've got a misses/girlfriend what ever you call them who's a pain in the arse and it's either her or something else that's draining my money I've got some more things sprayedhttp://imageshack.com/a/img843/4692/nzw4.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img534/4332/vgg4.jpgI've also got the kick stand, fork bottoms, head light mount, handle bars and some other stuff The radiator looks awesome though, gloss black with a white radiator cover About the engine:The engine and other parts will be sent on Tuesday and the kind young sir shall receive it on Wednesday (fozzie) I haven't done much to the bike, I'll upload more pictures of the bike when I put the new bolts in the swing arm, shock absorber and headlight mount Having problems with taken the forks apart as well I'll keep you updated any way guys., thanks for persevering through this painful read
eastanglianbiker Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 easy way to take the forks apart is do not undo top nuts untill you have undone the big allen bolt in the fork base by keeping the top done up you are keeping pressure on damper unit and stopping it turning so undo bolt in the base of fork tube then remove dust seal and circlip in the top and top nut remove spring tip oil out and use the fork leg as a drift to pull old seal out

Ricky Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 http://imageshack.com/a/img191/4917/bbxt.jpgYay, I did it
Ricky Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Sorry for the lack of updates I have work and shizzle so it's hard to find the motivation to go outside in the cold As some of you may know I've had the worst experience with forks ever but with a lot of time and patience they're finally rebuilt and put back on Excuse the mess, I would tidy up but if lose everything http://imageshack.com/a/img845/512/3gle.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img163/5272/je6f.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img836/6218/oir1.jpgI'm going to assume that I cant use this air filter? http://imageshack.com/a/img703/8893/v6to.jpg
eastanglianbiker Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 has this died and gone to the scrapyard in the sky ?
Ricky Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Not yet I'm just incredibly low on money at the moment so give me time
Fozzie Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The engine still had water in the bottom of it and the transmission was so rusted teeth crumbled when removed So helping Ricky source a strong TZR/DT 125 engine and selling what bits I can from this old wreck as it's got only a few good components in the whole thing left that weren't destroyed by rust
Ricky Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Sorry I haven't updated the thread much on my bike there is a number of reasons for this;1) lack of money 2) it's been to cold 3) I'm lazy Now the weather is picking up a bit I am starting to do a little I've cleaned the air box made it nice and clean, new air filter etc...Cleaned the oil tank, this took absolutely ages, the amount of shit that was on it, I actually thought te tank was black before I started scrubbing!http://imageshack.com/a/img593/9872/t98g.jpgStarting to try and do the electrics which is giving me a headache The tires will be fitted tomorrow!Oh and I'm trying to wire up the new ignition but they have different wires and wondered if it is possible to change them around?New ignition cable;http://imageshack.com/a/img28/218/3x98.jpgOld ignition cable;http://imageshack.com/a/img138/7512/ioal.jpgAlso, what is best for cleaning rust of the rear wheel axle, they're a browny colour and I'd like them to be shiny More picture tomorrow when the tires are fitted!
Guest Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Looking fab Ricky..if i have anything, like bolts or anyhing that have surface rust on them. i put em in a chopped bottle base, and leave them in coca cola for couple of days..Eats the rust away, and leaves em nice and shiney
Ricky Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Thanks Allan I'll try that tomorrow thanks http://imageshack.com/a/img802/3034/843a.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img560/6541/jcr1.jpgNew engine 10k miles, from a yamaha DTR 125, has the same 2RH on it Excellent compression, only thing letting it down is the disgraceful paint job, actually horrible, painted over everything In a nasty sparkly silver
