Stu Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 the wires on the old switch dont even match the wiring diagram have you got a multi plug on the old one?
Ricky Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 What's a multi-plug? I tried googling it and was unsuccessful
Stu Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 a multi plug is a plug with more them one wire on it like the new one that has 3
Stu Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I think that switch you have is wrong if you look at this one it shows the wiring and it matches yours OE wiring diagram but does it match the OE wiring on the main harness?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TZR-12 ... 5af14f95da
Ricky Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Oops that makes sense now, duhhh Yeah I have the old multi plug it's on the bottom of them wires Yes! That one has the correct wires! Shit, I should've looked into it a bit more:(I need one as a full kit though all the locks are stuffed
Stu Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 If you look about you can get them as a full set it certainly looks like you got the wrong one you can even get 6 wire ones too so there must be a few out there
Ricky Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 I bought this one I have as a full set, I didn't think the wiring would be different, obviously I was wrong Is there no way I can join the wires together or would I blow a fuse or blow the bike up?I'll keep searching for one, there's got to be one somewhere! Thanks stu
Stu Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 its hard to say to be honest as without knowing what each wire does on the switch its guess work its ok looking at the wiring diagram but thats not for your new switch
Ricky Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 It was a Chinese lock set which costed 20 quid for the full set, I knew it was to good to be true !Ah well, I've learnt something today
Stu Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I believe that lock sett is for a pre 88 I would get an ignition barrel and use the other new locks and just have two keys on you
Ricky Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Hmmmmmmm, that's an awesome idea! Thanks stu I'll make sure I order the right one this time

Fozzie Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It's coming together Ricky, keep the momentum up, the carb and brake caliper are on their way
Ricky Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 Thanks mr fozzie Not much to do now Does anyone have any tips to remove a lot of rust and dirt out of a tank? Can't wait for the smell of two stroke oil burning
V1P3R Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Clean tank and out put in some cleaning fluid and some bolts and give it a good shake, so I've heard! Just remember to count bolts in and out. It's only what I've heard, haven't tried it myself.
Fozzie Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 The method I'm about to give you is a little... Naughty... Get a litre of phosphoric acid off eBay. (You know, the stuff in coke drinks). If you have distilled water that will work great too. Plug the tank so it's sealed, maybe run some water through there with a bit of wd40 to test it. Then empty and let it dry.Fill the tank with distilled water and the litre of phosphoric acid. Seal it. Shake it, leave it overnight. Now hopefully you have a tank to come back to If the metal is good it will only eat the rust off, if the metal is bad... You will have a lot of acid on the floor AND your tank will be wrecked BUT on the upside you prove it shouldn't have been on the bike.Empty it and rinse out the tank. Refill with just distilled water and a big bag of small rocks, like sharp pebbles. Only part fill it with water and only a few hand fulls of rocks.Shake that bugger as if you were home alone on a saturday night. Hey presto
Ricky Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks a bunch guys I'm going to get doing that this weekend I've got my coke bottle tank all ready for the big test
