the wires on the old switch dont even match the wiring diagram :|


have you got a multi plug on the old one?

a multi plug is a plug with more them one wire on it like the new one that has 3 :wink:

Yes! That one has the correct wires! Shit, I should've looked into it a bit more:(


I need one as a full kit though :( all the locks are stuffed :(

If you look about you can get them as a full set


it certainly looks like you got the wrong one


you can even get 6 wire ones too so there must be a few out there

I bought this one I have as a full set, I didn't think the wiring would be different, obviously I was wrong :(


Is there no way I can join the wires together or would I blow a fuse or blow the bike up?


I'll keep searching for one, there's got to be one somewhere!

its hard to say to be honest as without knowing what each wire does on the switch its guess work its ok looking at the wiring diagram but thats not for your new switch

It was a Chinese lock set which costed 20 quid for the full set, I knew it was to good to be true !


Ah well, I've learnt something today :)

I believe that lock sett is for a pre 88 :lol:


I would get an ignition barrel and use the other new locks and just have two keys on you

Yay, so I've got the new tyres fitted!

I've got the back tyre on, finally! I ran out of charge so I couldn't take a picture :(


I'm not putting front one on yet because I have a few jobs to do before hand :)

Front tire has been put on the wrong way around...


Jesus wept...


Means going back to the shop and spending more money :crybaby:



Oh and the new ignition I bought works perfectly and plugged straight in :mrgreen:

if the shop fitted tyre wrong way round then they should turn it round for free

Shortly after I posted I rung up the shop and they was apologetic and said to bring it in Monday and he'll turn it around for free :)

Little update :P


Things are going slow because the YZF was top priority and drained what little money I had :lol:


Been cleaning various parts and fitting them on :)


Fitted the front tyre and it's starting to look like a bike at last! :)

So the DT125 engine didn't fit and is now in ebay :(


Result!


I found someone breaking a near mint TZR and I was like a kid in a candy shop...


I bought;


An engine which he proved to me running on the first kick! 8000! Genuine miles!


A near new original mudguard, complete with reg holder!


A CDI bracket and CDI with cap!


Both footpegs with all the brake levers and gear levers etc!


Gahhhhh he had so much more that I want! A perfect wiring loom but I ran out of money! :(


I'll be back to him though!


Pictures soon, just on the way back from picking it all up :D

New engine fitted! Might take this out at a later date to give a clean up and sand it down to bare metal so it's shiny but for now, it looks okay :)

New clocks fitted! Everything works, connected a battery up before and everything lit up! Even the back lights work! :lol: didn't take a picture because I couldn't hold the wires to the battery terminals and take a picture of it lit up :(

All new chain and sprockets fitted and tightened up, awesome.

Bought the full brake and gear levers and set up from him also, fitted the rear brake, everything is set up perfectly back there now :)

Still got to do...

Finish tidying up the wires.

Fit all new bulbs

Install front brake calliper

Clean a lot of stuff up

Install carburettor

Install air box

Install radiator

Check if the bike runs :o


And a few other things, won't be to long now before I can check the bike works then the polishing equipment comes out and a load of zip ties! :lol:


Sorry for the slow progress but it shouldn't be to long! Expect a video in the next week of the bikes first kicks!

Exhaust has been painted with high temp paint, cleaned wiring up, fitted radiator few other bits and bobs :)


Sorry for the bad picture my heat light is being used to cure the paint and me being a clumsy **** smashed my big main light :lol:


Still need a few zip ties here and there to tidy things up, need a few new jubilee clips on the radiator and the tidying up should have finished :)


Awaiting the carburettor and front brake calliper and should be good for a cheeky road test :lol:

Clean tank and out put in some cleaning fluid and some bolts and give it a good shake, so I've heard! Just remember to count bolts in and out. It's only what I've heard, haven't tried it myself.

The method I'm about to give you is a little... Naughty... :lol:


Get a litre of phosphoric acid off eBay. (You know, the stuff in coke drinks).


If you have distilled water that will work great too.

Plug the tank so it's sealed, maybe run some water through there with a bit of wd40 to test it. Then empty and let it dry.


Fill the tank with distilled water and the litre of phosphoric acid. Seal it. Shake it, leave it overnight.


Now hopefully you have a tank to come back to :lol:

If the metal is good it will only eat the rust off, if the metal is bad... You will have a lot of acid on the floor AND your tank will be wrecked BUT on the upside you prove it shouldn't have been on the bike.


Empty it and rinse out the tank.


Refill with just distilled water and a big bag of small rocks, like sharp pebbles. Only part fill it with water and only a few hand fulls of rocks.

Shake that bugger as if you were home alone on a saturday night. Hey presto :lol:
