Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 UPDATE:Ok, progress has been slow, because i have my son for a week or so, So cant really be painting or welding in the house around him..But i did managed to get the frame chopped down, like i wanted to..i am very happy with it.. but damn the frame looks small now http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140207_153948_zps4720ba6c.jpgAlso replaced steering yolk bearings, as these were pointed out to be slightly notchy on its MOT, although not bad enough for advisory apparently.. But replace them anyway..http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140206_075445_zps64c2ecf4.jpgOnly a pic showing the near bearings.. Smacking out the bearing races from inside the head tube was a pain, and so was seating the new ones. But job done..AFter that, i got the frame all primered up, and ready for main paint..I have done all 6 coats of primer and it has come out pretty good...I dont care about absolute perfection, after all, this is a 13 year old bike, i just want it to like nicer than it did..Let those dry over the last couple of days, So i managed to squirt a couple coats of main on.http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_122628_zps5d63a52f.jpgAswell as brake levers, speedo etc..All 6 coats of paint been applied.. Have let them dry for couple of days, and now time to clear coats on everything..http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_143746_zpsc4652ea6.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_143758_zps7144d859.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_143818_zpsef000bc1.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_143830_zps8daebe57.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140208_143905_zpsbd98604e.jpgIf you notice that paint has gone all over the rear tire, and i havent bothered masking it up like the front..Its because the rear tire is about shagged.. On its legal limit.. SO will be getting replaced as soon as the bike is done and i have more cash..Had a problem when removing the rear indicators, the metal stems where rusted through, so they snapped off in the nut..Concidering wether to repair them, or just buy new indicators..But i really like the bullet style of the original ones, so i would like to keep them if i can... Guest Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 UPDATE:Coming along nicely now, actually looking half like a motorbike..Good job too, as the Misus is beginning to moan about the state of the dining room (well, my garage) Got her into a roller now. I am loving it http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140209_085218_zpsf800a432.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140209_102827_zps36e126cf.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_153746_zps097b578f.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_154214_zps372e6406.jpgAnd got the exhaust pipe wrapped.. http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_153722_zps4f680b37.jpgLooks like this will be all for a few days, as im off to france tomorrow, and i think im away for most of the week too Quote
Guest Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 UPDATE:Engine rebuild time:Pulled the head off, wow, the head gasket had well and truely gone, from the overheating of having no oil..Loads of oil was in the cylinder...I think it was burning more oil than it was fuel http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_172540_zps84dac9ca.jpgBarrel and head off, http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_173233_zps24d292a6.jpgpiston offhttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_175159_zps076b073a.jpgI forgot to take a pictore of how badly the sleve and piston rings were..The sleve was severely scored, and the piston rings,, well... werent much left, the skirt of the piston was grinding up and down the cylinder But new piston is place, http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_175857_zpsf7073014.jpgNew cylinder in place:http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_182034_zpsbd1e4256.jpgand new cylinder head in place:http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140210_182849_zps10bf35b0.jpgQuick job of setting valve clearances.. as stated in manual.. 0.08mm on both valves and the big i was looking forward to... Engine back in the bike http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140212_150231_zpsfda31fe4.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140212_150258_zps72606c65.jpgIm leaving the cylinder walls silver, and re-painting the bottom of the crank casing black again.. Just waiting on some VHT to arrive.. Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 UPDATE:Apologies for not keeping you lot informed of my work, The misus is making me hurry up and get the bike out the house, and ive ruined the new Lino flooring.. Millions of little burn marks from welding OK, Didnt bother repairing the indicators, so i bought new ones, and fitted them..Nice and small..http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140217_183932_zps4c418445.jpgApologies too, for the flash.. Can never seam to get a very good image on my junk phone..Also got the battery tray welded in place, and battery n electrics fitted... Yeah the wiring is all over the place, like spaghetti junction right now, but im slowly sorting it all out..http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140217_183946_zps866efca4.jpgAs you will also see.. I didnt fit those air filters that my friend gave me.. They come in contact with the frame.. SO i just bought a cone pod filter..Exhaust is also mounted. You will notice the rear box has the mount coming from the exhaust, and not bolted to anything.. Well im going to be cutting that off, and adding a small clamp around the frame, more towards the footpegs, as the pipe sits along side the frame anywayy.Sort of like a Jubulee Clip style clamp.. Will be plenty strong enough..http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140217_184007_zps696f3a7e.jpgThis is what the bike looks like so far.http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140217_184007_zps696f3a7e.jpghttp://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/Badboyazza_2009/20140217_184129_zpsa47e2a9b.jpgTank has also been sanded, and currently getting its coats of paint.. But thats in the shed for now...I also cut and welded a steel section onto the side of my swingarm, and fitted my rear brake light and number plate..Sadly.. Once again, due to my phone... i cannot get a good image of it but it looks awesome Only bits to do now are:Finish and fit the tank..Adjust the rear brake light switch correctly.Fabricate the single seat. (making from scratch).. and fit it. Quote
