Hi guys,

I'm taking my fuel tank off sometime this week to fix my dent and minor leak. Is there anything i should be aware of? Obviously i know to turn the fuel tap off and drain it into a CLEAN container but is there anything else i need to be careful doing or even any recomendations for the repairs?

Usually tubes under the tank to unsnag before removal. If you have a fuel level gauge, there's an electrical connection as well. May be worth disconnecting the battery before starting removal. Make sure you have somewhere secure and non scratchy to place it after removal.

Took it off last night, not many problems, after figuring out HOW to remove it, ran out of space in my fuel container to pour the fuel so it went in my mums measuring jug hah! Put some sealant on it now so hopefully will put it together tonight and be good to ride.

Just an update, Removed it without hassle, fixed the leak with some glue my dad gave me. let it dry put it back on, had difficulty with the cowl. And it's all good :) Much happier riding my bike again

Nice one mate....... 8-) I hope the glue that you used was specifically for repairing petrol tanks as ordinary glues will be attacked by the petrol.......

FOrgot the name of it, but my dad used it on his old (yamaha?)250 to repair the tank and it lasted till he got rid of the bike haha!
