Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Hello, My AJS Nac 12 won't work, it is only 6 months old, the battery has charge in it, I've visually looked at the wiring and it all seems fine.Took the front of the bike apart to get to the ignition, it has in the bottom of the ignition, 4 wires that are soldered on, they are all connected fine. The problem that I have is when I turn the key, nothing happens, no neutral light, the fuel gauge doesn't move, nothing! Thanks, any advice would be great!Adam. Quote
Tango Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Welcome to TMBF mate......please pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself the guys and gals...... Have you checked the main fuse?.....probably somewhere near the battery..... Quote
Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Thankyou And I shall do.... Also. I have checked the fuse, it's intact. It was also replaced not so long ago... Quote
Tango Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Try spraying some WD40 into the ignition switch.....may just be some water in there that's causing problems. You may also have a wiring problem.....check the connector where the ignition switch plugs into.....and also check the wiring around the headstock in case a wire has rubbed through or broken..... I am still yet to try the WD40 thing...I managed to trace the wires back to under my seat (I've not yet been brave enough to attempt to take the fuel tank off...) and there is just a wire looping back into itself?I've looked at the wires. They seemed okay at a glance, and they're all In a sheathing. So they're well protected. Quote
Tango Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The bike hasn't got a kill switch has it? Quote
stumblebum Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Check all the connections are tight at the battery terminals. Quote
Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 It does have a kill switch, which is set to off. And all my kill switch does is stop the engine, all the lights and stuff come on. But with my problem, nothing comes on. Not even the neutral light...Also, the terminals are all tightened and covered with no rust or defection. Quote
rennie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Have you got a voltmeter?if the battery got has charge then you need to test for voltageat various places till you find where you lose it.If it's only 6 months old is it not still under warranty? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 bike only 6 months old dont even touch it get dealer to sort it out under waranty thats why you buy brand new so any problems like this get sorted Quote
Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Nah, I need to get a voltmeter. I know someone with one. Also, it was under warrantee. But I was close to my mileage for my first service. So I called up to book it in, they gave me a date, in 2 weeks, so I asked if I could go over the mileage because I need to use it to get to work and about places. Which they said that I could do that. So I carried on, riding as normal. Went to my service, to which they said that I've gone too far over my mileage, and they were refusing to give me my free service and therefore voided my warrantee. Quote
mrcheese Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Not sure about the free service, but sounds a bit naughty. However under the sale of goods act any product sold must be fit for purpose. Clearly your bike isn't. It should work for a "reasonable" period. "Reasonable" is not defined in law, but a six months is not reasonable. The dealer has a duty to repair or replace the bike. Phone them and state the sale of goods act 1979. If they won't play ball then phone your local trading standards who will help you.If you bought the bike on finance then the supply of goods act 1973 applies which makes the HP company responsiblePaul. bmwdave Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 The dealer's taking the p--s. Get tough with them. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Thankyou And I shall do.... Also. I have checked the fuse, it's intact. It was also replaced not so long ago... Why was it replaced? Was the original fault located (which meant the fuse had to be changed) and who 'fixed' it?This is deffo a warranty issue - Tell the shop that they have to fix it! Quote
