Dynamo_Delboy Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 So last week i serviced the bike i.e plugs, filters, oil. Today i go out and something doesnt feel right round near my left foot. Ends up checking the chain and is is very very tight with very little slack. Now when i 1st got the bike i got the chain tightened by a very reputable mechanic as he said it was too slack. Chain has been fine until today.Could something be causing it to be tight after putting the fairings back on?Gonna need to take a look at it tomorrow. Quote
cockercas Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Not unless you have removed the chain or changed the suspension. Quote
megawatt Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Try pulling the chain off the back sprocket at the very back, furthest from front of bike. If it pulls off more than 2 or 3mm, it's fooked. Quote
Dynamo_Delboy Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Chain hasnt been off nor has suspension been altered.I was thinking maybe with it been parked under the cover and it being quite cold the lube may have dried out and became stiff but then thought that that probably wouldnt happen Quote
megawatt Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Do the test I sugested and then get back to me? Quote
Tango Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Could be some seized links.....check the whole chain and lube it if necessary...... Quote
Stu Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 check the chain for tight spots it might be on a tight spot and before when its been checked it could have been on a loose spot if this is the case then it might be time for replacement Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 As Stu say's chains don't shrink you might have adjusted it on a slack spot, you should always do a full rotation of the chain before and after adjustment and look for the slack and tight spots if there's an excessive amount of slack in one spot seriously consider its time for a replacement. If the slack spot is excessive it could jump the sprockets and cause a real drama, on the other hand, a tight spot could cause it to snap or maybe damage the drive train - gearbox. Quote
