PJDon Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hi guys, any help would be appreciated. Went out to mu bike this morning that was was what looked to be an oily patch on the ground to the left hand side of the bike. I couldn't see any dripping from the bike, took the bike off the center stand and there was a crunching sound. I rolled the bike forward and found a very small grey box with a white wire coming out of it, from google I think it is called a Insulation Displacement Connector. Decided not to take the bike to work, but won't be able to get it to a garage till the middle of next month. Any ideas as to what I can do to repair it or what the problem might be?Thanks in advancePete Quote
Tango Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I think we'd need some details of the bike and maybe some pics too in order to help you...... Quote
banditjohn Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I'm sure it's a simple mistake but what bike would you be talking about, I've never had any mention of one of them Quote
PJDon Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Sorry guys, like I said I'm a newbie. It's a kymco cruiser 2003. I can't see any damage just found this little piece under the bike. Quote
Bogof Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Sorry guys, like I said I'm a newbie. It's a kymco cruiser 2003. I can't see any damage just found this little piece under the bike. So it's a little piece of wire attached to a Scotchlok connector? If everything electrical works on the bike as you would expect it to, I'd be inclined to just throw it in the bin and forget you ever saw it. After all, there's no guarantee it even came off your bike! Quote
DreamytimeEscorts Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 What Bogof said. Also, if you can't see where the oil's coming from, I'd be inclined to think the oil patch was already there. Quote
cyberwolf Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 could the oil be dripping from the chain as thats on the left?pic of the gray box would help Quote
cockercas Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Is there much of an oil patch? If there isnt id move it a few feet forward and start it and let the oil warm up and turn it off. Come back in a few hours and if theres a new oil patch the find out were its coming from. Quote
cockercas Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Oh and them connectors are what i use to connect tow bar wires into the loom it saves splicing wires. Baisicaly there a plastic case with a bit of metal with 2 slots in. You put a wire in both slots and push the metal down and close the case. Do you have a side stand switch? All i can think is someones snapped a wire and tride to join it with one of them. Quote
