I'm planning on REALLY cleaning my exhaust as the underside is FILTHY and caked with rust and grime. Now i have two questions.

One - Can i remove the WHOLE exhaust and replace it without breaking anything? I see there is 2 bolts where it joins to the engine and then 2 that hold it on further down.

Two - Can i soak the exhaust in anything to weaken the dirt? IE water. or a diluted cleaner?

You can probably remove it as a complete unit in theory - whether it crumbles to dust or not is another matter! :-)

I used to use caustic soda solution back in the days of 2 strokes to get all the crap off the inside and out but would recommend the universal wonderment of carb cleaner if you want to give it a spruce up without risking disintigration.

Hahaha i hope it doesnt fall apart!!

Got 4 bottles of cola. gonna soak it and scrub it in that. if it gets ruined or cleaned we'll see :P

where it bolts onto the engine i would clean the bolts up using wire brush or similar and then soak in wd40 or other penetration fluid overnight as this will lessen the chances of bolt shearing as you try to undo it

Anyone ever used coke on an exhaust to clean the shit off it? Soak or just pour some over?

Spent a couple hours letting it soak a fair bit of the crap came off so it kinda works. dodnt want to completely submerge it incase it got stuck inside and damaged it. EIther way its slightly better. :)
