RantMachine Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 And I'll say this, seeing as my disintegrating gear has been used as an argument against cheap helmets in another thread - a £200 or £300 helmet might outlast it several times over, but if you haven't got the 200+ to spare in the first place then at least the £50 ones exist and (in the case of the Spada, at least) can still do a good job of the important bit of protecting your brains.Investing in good gear saves money in the long run but does require one to have enough money for said gear in the first place Quote
Joeman Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I went to look for a new lid at the weekend. I was looking at the shoei gt-air. Its a very nice helmet, solidly made and I've always been a fan of shoei helmets. What annoyed me a bit was that the same helmet just in different colours was priced radically different with all the colours I liked being the most expensive (typical!). Seems its purly marketing that's controlling the price difference not safety or features. That plus the way the sales staff ignored me for 10mins meant I still Dont have a new lid. But tbh my shoei XR1000 is still as good as it was the day I bought it so in my view, if you want a lid to last, buy a shoei! Quote
Mr Fro Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Absolutely old son, my last Shoei lasted 8 years (still looks good) and I've just replaced it with an X-Spirit II.A bit steep up front but if it lasts another eight years then it's money well spent! Quote

Marmalade43 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I've used caberg flip helmets for years, always comfy and suit me. 5* sharp rated and survived a big off a couple of weeks ago after making quite obvious contact with the road. It knocked me out but have absolutely no injuries to my head. It was time to replace it anyway, nearly a year old but I didn't plan on doing it this way. Quote
