What s the best type? Wall or Floor?

Any good deals online anyone know of?

Also what's your guys favorite chain to lock the bike to said anchors??

I thought wall was better as its harder for thieves to cut the chain if its off the ground?

as for ground anchors, go for a Y-anchor!

And for chains, have a look on an insurance website and choose the one which gives you the most off your bill

That is a very very valid point....

I'd imagine it would be near impossible to get the right sort of movement with the cutters..? Cause you need some serous body weight don't you for cutting.

But to be fair smashing the bricks is going to cause a hell of a racket.. As well as this i am planning on having Heavy duty D locks in the wheels/frame and disc locks. Going full bore with this.... I have seen videos of croppers and the chain on the floor, not pretty.

As well as this an alarm that is gonna make a hella lotta noise should someone even breath on it. Maybe an alarm that alerts my phone by text message that its been set off??

Thoughts on this?

Don't forget that all these Sold Secure and Thatcham stuff are only good for 5 minutes. They are not meant to be capable of withstanding an attack for any longer. I wouldn't consider noise as a deterrent as most people ignore alarms etc etc.

Just seen a video of someone getting through the best chains in 20 seconds... the key i think is to have it raised of the floor?? Is this surly the obvious answer with chains?

Most security devices are a detterrent......a determined thief will take your bike no matter what security you have.....but the point is to not make it easy for them....

Almax chains are super strong.....so a decent ground anchor and one of their chains is probably the best deterrent around..... 8-)

going for a wall anchor i think, after seeing how chains were cut laying on the floor, seems impossible almost if they are hanging on the wall. I'll check these chains now. Thanks.

Yeah...the argument about the chain being off the floor is valid if the thief is using bolt croppers.....but if he's got a cordless angle grinder it won't matter much. Not trying to scare you.....just pointing out just how devious some of these low-life scum are....

Have a look on the Almax site as they have vids of various chains being cropped.....shocking how quickly some of them are cut.....but the Almax chains stand up pretty well to these attacks.... 8-)

I chain my bikes together and make sure the chain is through the top of the wheels so its always off the ground. Rolling the bikes to move the chain would set off the alarm(s).

Mind if I ask you what alarm you have and does it link up with your mobile phone in any way?
