Guest Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 So I am after some new tyres, bt016 pro or mich pilot 2cts, looking like 175 quid fitted being the best price.I dont do many miles on this bike and plab to use it on track, just wondering if i am better getting scrubbed in tyres at a track day, i expect they will be under half the price?Anybody got experience of this? Stu Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 personally no not worth it they are super soft tyres that wont last long on the roads at all I have been known to get less than 500 miles out of track day rubber on the road!! plus they don't heat up properly and are shit if you get caught out in the rain and they are usually past their life as they have had too many heat cycles and gone off hence why they still arent been used on the track I have had more slides on "sticky" rubber then road tyres!! this is because sticky rubber works at higher temps then you can usuallt get on the road Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 175 isn't that bad for new rubber.Scrubs can be incredibly cheap ~ 90-100 for Supercorsa SC for example which are ~ 350 new.I've used scrubs without any problem but you have to be really careful when you buy them that they aren't ruined already.I've found milage can be pretty good as on track you use the edges more than the centre of the tyre and vice-versa on the road.Like Stu says though, they are pants in the wet!
