dispersion Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Ok so today I installed a universal cigarette lighter straight into the battery. It works so far but havnt tried it while the engine is running (shouldn't make a difference no).Question is, I currently in plugged it but if I left it and the cigarette lighter seems to get quite warm (without any attachments inside) and has a light running on it, will it drain my battery an/or blow with excess power?Does that make sense? I am thinking of installing a switch but to be honest, if I had bought one off the shelf it would of cost me about 2 quid more....would of been worth it lol! Quote
dispersion Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 That's what I was thinking. Will try it. Quote
acting_strange Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 You would be better off installing a relay to provide the switch circuit, than wire it into the side light circuit... Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 if it has got a light in it then yes it will be draining the battery while bike not in use Quote
