Guest Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Hello riders!I bought myself a 14 plate Kawasaki z1000 2 months ago. Everything was going perfect on it! It was due for its first 600 mile service, (oil n filter, chain, nuts n bolts etc). I rode it home (only 4 miles away) from the dealership and parked it up inside the garage. The following morning I took the bike out. I was on a dual carriageway approaching a roundabout. I took the exit I needed to take (straight ahead 2nd exit), and started to straighten up the bike, and then all of a sudden the handle bars of the bike began to wobble back and forth VIOLENTLY, I tried to keep control but couldn’t and effectively lost control of the bike, falling off it and receiving injuries to my arms chest and knees. Ambulance – hospital - Luckily no broken bones, but heavy bruising! My speed must have only been between 30 – 40mph!Any advice will be great!??? Quote
rennie Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Hard to say without seeing the bike!Glad you're ok by the way!I would certainly be having a conversation with the dealer concerned! Quote
Tango Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Welcome to TMBF mate.....pop over to the Newbies section and say hello to the folks when you get chance..... Sorry to hear about your off......glad that you weren't badly injured..... Sounds like the bike went into a tank slapper.....unusual at such a low speed......unless you'd had a tyre blow out on the front.... Was the roads dry, or was there standing water? Normally, if you get into a tank slapper the best course is to accelerate out of it.....generally, shutting the throttle or braking will make it worse.... Quote
Joeman Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Do you have a steering damper? If you do it wasn't working!!My S1000RR gives me pretty violent tank slappers, but only at stupidly high speeds. Its a good reminder for me to slow down lol. Quote
