vauxfan Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 HI, I am starting a thread (hopefully in the correct section) on what parts most people would replace on their bikes as a matter of coarse. my bike has 16k and completely standard. I bought her from a bike dealer for a little bit of fall back. being my first bike I wanted some security. the bike has Pirelli super corsa pro tyres and a meta alarm system. everything else is as original.I have had it 2 weeks now and I have some niggles to sort out. the 1 light at front is a little annoying as I would have liked both on (for looks) I like the hid's for these bikes for safety reasons as well as led indicators (what's your opinions on these, and what are the best) as said above a couple of niggles, front high beam lense had condensation in it, 1 of the alarm fobs is a little temperamental (may need a new battery) and I am unsure if it ha a bit of a rattle on throttle, read some where about chain tensioner might need manual adjustment? when you let the clutch out in neutral the bike tone changes slightly and the bike vibrates a little.should I pop the bike in to the dealer to have them look at it while under warranty?thoughts are double bubble, light smokearrow type led indicators,35w hid'sshort levers? this is a new one that I have just heard about on here? fullscreenaging Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The rattle could be the CCT (Cam Chain Tensioner) they are renowned for going on FI models. Just keep an eye on it as the CCT is automatic and should eventually tighten itself. If it seems to get worse/louder as you roll of the throttle over the next few weeks then take it in for them to check. Quote
Fozzie Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 HIDs = No, they are a faff to fit and you can't see the only light being on anyway. If it bothers you, link some led lights to the side lights and put them in the air intakes on the front. That makes it look quite nice. The cam chain rattle is on mine, it only happens when cold or a slight bit around 5000rpm. It will get worse and worse so either have it changed on warranty or it will last for a few thousand miles if it has just started. The clutch noise is normal, it is a bit rumbly (I've had 3 of these bikes so would know)Just get a powerbronze double bubble screen, smoked. To get the condensation out, remove the rubber seals where the bulbs go into with all of the lights on and leave it for a few minutes. Then put the seals back on before switching them off, and it will subside. Quote
Joeman Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Want both lights on? Ride about on full beam! That's what I do (during the day). You've not had it long - crash bungs might be a good idea.Padock stand bobbins and a padock stand make chain lubing a lot easier. Quote

I suppose the bulbs being h7s I can put osram in to give a whiter more visible light? Quote

You've got more chance of someone turning across your path riding on high beam as you are dazzling oncoming vehicles and they will not be able to judge your distance correctly. Quote

Not really - even on full beam, during the day, bike lights are not bright enough to dazzle anyone. And the low beam on most bikes is next to useless. Also, i've never had any oncoming cars flash headlights at me to indicate they are being dazzled. Why would having lights on during the day increase the chance of someone pulling across my path?
