Hi

I'm a new rider on a YBR125C with about 2500 miles on it now. (Please forgive my lack of technical knowledge/language!). A couple of weeks ago I noticed it was revving higher than before when in gear. By this I mean that it used to reach 30mph happily in 3rd gear at 5-6000 revs on a flat surface, but now it is doing this at 7000. It basically feels like every gear is one lower and I'm having to shift up sooner.

The idle revs have not changed at all.

First I thought this might be due to the chain being loose, but after tightening it nothing has changed. My only other guess is that the gears aren't fully engaging or something?

I'm hoping someone here might have some insight into this problem!

Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch may be slipping.

Check the clutch by putting the bike into first gear (engine off0 and try pushing it. If you can move it without the engine turning over, it will be the clutch.

Might be worth checking your tyre pressures and chain sprocket condition. When was it last serviced? Sounds as tough you're requiring more effort to move essentially.

Check the free play in the clutch lever.....if it's too tight the clutch may not be engaging fully....

have you been eating pies??

as said above get the clutch checked out as it sounds like its slipping

Thanks for all the replies. I'm about 800 miles from the next service at 3.5k but the bike just isn't feeling right so I think I'll see about getting it looked at ASAP.

(As you asked, I'm having a pie for dinner on Friday. Maybe I should have something else..)

Cheers all!

Hi Tango

Checked the clutch lever free play last night and made an adjustment, but no big effect on the core problem. I'll book it in and get it looked at!

Cheers
