Harri Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Hi. I've been trawling through fleabay in a search for a bike. (no luck so far!) I've seen quite a few bikes here and on other selling sites where a bike ad has stated that the bike jumps out of second gear! Firstly, is there a particular reason why it always seems to be second gear? And what would be the likeliest cause and remedy?cheers. Quote
Tango Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Could be as simple as a badly adjusted chain........but it could also be bent or damaged selector forks..... Quote
wr6133 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 If it's a Kawasaki it's often related to the positive neutral finder. Sorting it can be a major pain to the point most owners will simply swap out the engine. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 1st and 2nd gear are the ones that get abused by numpties learning to try and wheelie or just from jamming it through gears without clutch but not getting revs right, often means selector is bent or badly worn as others said often requires engine strip down to repair Quote
