Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi all, take for example a cbr600 or gsx600. Standard bars are clip on type and quite low. Are there any modifications that could be carried out to the bike to get a handle bar height an inch or two up and back. Street fighter style I guess. The original fairing might have to modified too to accommodate.any ideas guys?barcud Quote
Tango Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 We modded Bonniebird's Speed 4 by drilling the top yoke and fitting some Renthal bars using Oberon risers......the onlythings you need to be aware of is the length of the throttle and clutch cables......and the wiring to the switchgear..... Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 That sounds interesting Tango. Are there any pics around? Would the yoke tops be similar?barcud Quote
Bonniebird Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Used thesehttp://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Product.d ... tAodhkoAdQThey have a 20degree angle to bring the bars towards you slightly.Paired them with Rental ultra low bars.More comfortable riding position and better low speed handling Quote

Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 That's just what I had in mind. Bonniebird, I assume you have done a fair bit of test riding now? More comfy and better slow speed handling is what I'd be hoping for too.barcud Quote
Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 p.s. looked hard but I can't work out how the bottom of the bar grip is screwed into the yoke? Quote
Mr Fro Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 p.s. looked hard but I can't work out how the bottom of the bar grip is screwed into the yoke?Drill holes and use the supplied bolts. Quote
Tango Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 The risers have a M10 stud screwed into the bottom of them......so the top yoke had to be drilled and nyloc nuts and washers screw onto the threads underneath the yoke, which holds the risers in place...... Quote
Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Gotcha That could actually give me more choice as to a prospective bike buy.barcud Quote
Bonniebird Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I bought a spare top yoke off ebay and got it drilled with a pillar drill at work so I kept the original yoke. There isn't much of a honeycomb under the S4 yoke and the top is smooth so it was fairly straightforward.LSL do a range of top yoke conversion kits too for various bikes but quite expensive. Also not angled so I went for a DIY job. Quote
Harri Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Cheers for that. A lot of help barcud Quote
