onesea Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Being a simple sole, can you follow some wires visually, check connections each end for feeling soft or floppy...My knowledge of electronics is limited but wiring normally stops working due to sensors, poor connections, failure being, disturbed, water ingress or brake down mechanical or heat.Much is often visible, sometimes "fixed" by WD40 or other water dispersant - this is often not long term but you soon learn where to squirt and where the fault is...Spraying and slamming the side stand up with some force could remove crud that in testing did not allow the sensor to operate. It might be worth spraying the ignition and switch gear as well as well. Quote
Themadoll Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Ok. The problem began with a cheap chinese ignition switch from Ebay. It was advertised as compatible with the injection model of YBR but in fact it wasn't. I hasten to add. I never bought it but I did fit it. It turns out that it wasn't only not compatible, but the wiring was completely wrong as well. You can find these still being advertised on Amazon and Ebay today. If you're tempted to buy one. Don't... Just don't.It fried the neutral switch and the diode that's in the wiring loom under the tank.Cheers for your input guys 'n' gals. I hope my expensive trip down this road to hell helps some of you out sometime. Quote
