Glorian Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 After my bike refusing to start yesterday, I managed to start it on the reserve. So to me it sounds like no fuel coming through the main line indicating a blockage, I will check the tube and see if there is something stuck if not i imagine it is in the tank itself. If thats the case how can i clean it out? Thankfully there should only be about 50miles worth of fuel in there. Quote
Mr Fro Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 It's quite unlikely for the line to block - more probable for there to be a kink or something stuck in the tap/tank.If it were me...* I would check for kinks and if I found none, I'd take the carb hose off the tap, connect a longer bit to it and give a puff of air up it while working the tap from res-off-on a few times.*This is not a very safe thing to do and quite easy to get a mouth full of petrol... So I've heard... Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 However, from your comment 'only 50 miles or so of fuel' - are you sure you are NOT on reserve anyway? If the fuel tap is on the right, and you had the bike on the side-stand...................Just a thought! Quote
Glorian Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 50 miles is just under half a tank i tried shaking it about get some fuel in but nada. WIll get the tank off later and see what's afoot! Quote

Glorian Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Strangely enough. I started it up with the reserve, switched to the main, it's fine, rode it for an hour, fine.. .Let's see in the morning. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Suspect a bit of debris blocking the pipe - Now cleared (fingers crossed). Quote

If you replaced some fuses at the same time then that may have been the problem. Quote
Glorian Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Nah i changed the fuses after it was running fine. Mostly because the dash fuse had gone so after inspection others required changing. Quote
