Any recommendations for a tank bag for my xt. My tank has plastic shrouds either side and has quite a steep slope so it seems to limit my options regarding magnetic ones plus I only have a budget of around 50 squid

Held, and probably others, do a range that attaches to the fuel cap some how. I'm not entirely sure how, or how good they are but I've seen them go for around £50 on eBay...

Tank bags usually start around £50 for a decent one. Some have straps that attatch round headstock and down by seat somehow

I just use the cheap aldi ones.

Magnetic. Never had any trouble with them and I pretty much use it to commute so it gets some hammer.

Yes mate.

Magnets built into the fabric of the bag which in turn sits directly onto the tank.

I bought a Held 20l one off ebay for £40 and rather than using magnets I attached it around the headstock and then bought a metre of webbing of ebay and some clasps and attached it under the seat. Much sturdier and doesnt move an inch.

Now its strapped to the rear seat and that's where it stays for the winter. To make it water proof I bought some Ziploc bags to make everything waterproof :)

I have a quick release Givi. You screw a ring onto your tank filler and it just clips to by that a quick release spring loaded mechanism and also has a headstock backup strap for safety. Love it.

I have a Givi tank lock bag and it's fantastic. Out of your price range but really worth it. I believe Oxford have just started a similar range.

Bagster make a cover for the XT660R (2006-2011)

if its a tank bag you want.. and all you want, then you wont go far wrong with one of theirs.. all assuming you can justify the outlay.

from £96 for a single colour black, and prices up to £150 for a full colour/decal match.

kreiga do a nice one so you can use your bags and stuff and convert them to tank bag

Someone call me,,,,

I have several, the oldest & my favourite is Buffalo, I used to tie them around the headstock but I've stopped doing that as they just dont move about unless youre into stoppies or drag starts

Just my tuppence worth. I spent 8 months touring Europe in 2013-14 using a Cargo Endurance, or Endurance Cargo? Bought it off the local free adds for £10 on a whim. It was the only thing that stayed 100% dry including the genuine Triumph panniers.

Still use it now.
