CGD217 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The below article has just popped up on my news feed on facebook. I read through it and can't help but feel sorry for the family the rider has left behind, it makes you think. Its also interesting to hear it from a police officers perspective.Anyway, I thought some of you may find it interesting.CLICKY Quote
Gin Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Jeez, think that must be a worst nightmare for any one working in the emergency services.. I have told my family and friends that If my way out of this world happens to be on two wheels, though I know they will be hurt by it, they are to know that I died doing what I loved... Probably won't be a consolation and won't stop my mum cursing the day my head was turned by motorbikes but at least I've said it and there won't be "What if we'd stopped her riding?"Hope the family in the story can get some semblance of normality and happiness back into their lives even through this devastation.. Guest Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Good topic. Actually I recently read DaleB's thread (http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/m ... up.124960/) over at advrider.com about the accident he was involved in and subsequent paralysis which really got me thinking about the family side of things, something that didn't cross my mind before. Even my old man who doesn't worry much is worried about me riding which rings alarm bells for me, my mum who worries about everything worries about it but that is to be expected since she worries a lot. It just made me think, when I move out can I really put them through the worry of me biking here and there and them not knowing of my safety? I don't know how my old man would take anything happening to me since he doesn't really show emotions.I am into my cars as well though which can be pretty dangerous but biking is the common one that everyone worries about I guess because it's more of a niche thing and less well known about. onesea Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Flynn my parents did not stop worrying when I moved out. I just have to report in when I arrive at my first destination to say I am safe (I still do in my middle age). After that its not that they worry less its just that they cannot worry when they do not know all your movements so it eases the burden. It works for my daughter as well when she goes back to mum I worry less than when she is with me. Although sadly with her mum it works more the other way round, when my daughter is with me she seems to worry more... Quote
