tuktuk Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Its best to hang back from the cars a bit and wait for the barrier to close after the car infront before you approach. There are sensors looking for bikes, once your detected the barrier opens up.If your close to the car infront you wont be picked up, hang back and normally you dont even have to stop moving.I once went through atraight after a car thinking it knows im here and will hold the barrier up. Nearly got my head took off Quote
Paul_Giggins_77 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 My first time on M25 I did not know you didnt have to pay. So went to the coin one rather than a manned one. Was stuck for what seemed like eternity as I coukd not get the coins out of my pockets without removing gloves etc and when I put money in it kept rejecting it as did not register the bike....... Felt like a total moron! Quote

Felt like a total moron! Riding to the Southend rideout last year, I followed a Harley and two other bikes as we got to the Dartford crossing. I wast paying much attention, just blindly following. Turns out the Harley rode to the wrong barrier and me and the other two bikes followed him! We all sat there like idiots until the attendant came and opened the gate for us! So I know how you feel Quote
soll Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 congrats on the pass, nice bike... dartford has no barriers now Quote
Joeman Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 congrats on the pass, nice bike... dartford has no barriers nowYes and yet there are still traffic jams??Try to avoid the place if possible. Quote
RantMachine Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Why bother with the crossing when you can BUILD YOUR BIKE INTO A BOAT?!?!?!!http://www.motorradonline.de/sixcms/media.php/11/thumbnails/bikeboat1024.jpg.4549616.jpg Quote

Guest Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Done 60 miles yesterday and went to Hexham today so another 80 miles under my belt, on every kind of road surface and weather you could imagine. Slowly getting a little more confident on roundabouts. Quote

Fozzie Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Good luck I've already passed.. 4 days later I dropped the bike. Oops. Stationary or moving? If you were just moving it about most of us have done it. It's the easiest thing to do and usually it only happens once If you were moving at any real speed I hope you and the bike are good Quote

I was just pulling away but out of a car park straight onto a right handed. Too many revs + too little clutch control = Bike just went under me.Luckily I got my feet on the floor quick and held the bike which reduced a lot of the impact, but I'm fine just a bruised ego. Guest Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Finally built the courage up to look at the bike before it gets picked up:- Dip stick is still showing loads of oil- All brakes work (even with a bent lever)- it pushes straight and steers normal- All electrics workI'm gonna prepare for the worst but it doesn't look at bad as I first thought.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160308/23081ed8b31f3259ddb3fa718b1a8e05.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160308/e45d164a8ef916e949b703685310da34.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160308/621141394456e8dcb2d55852bfe5ccba.jpg Quote

Guest Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 This Mr ChipOnHisShoulder may have something to say about my reg though if I catch him on the wrong morning Quote
Hoggs Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 eh? Someone who doesn't like personalised plates? Tell him to go worry about something that matters Quote
Guest Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I was tempted to get it all on one line (as then it spells my name) but apparently that's a no no as that requires the reg to be obviously smaller Quote
