baggy Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 For any F1 fans out there thank think the GP tickets are by far overpriced but would like to see the cars going around Silverstone there is a 2 day test a few days after the British GP.Tickets are only £10 and an extra £10 for a pit walk. Only risk is if the weather is bad they probably won't go out on circuit but at the price worth the riskhttp://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/2016-f1-team-test/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Quote
TC1474 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 How times have changed. Back in the day it used to be free and they even handed out free ear plugs.I used to stop off there for lunch when I was running day long advanced courses as it just broke the day up a bit and it gave those who had never heard or seen a Formula 1 car up close the opportunity to see them being driven in anger.Last F1 test day I went to was when Jaques Villneuve joined Damon Hill at the Rothmans Williams team so that tells you how long ago it was. baggy Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 I watch F1 now and again and have seen a Renault go around Silverstone a few years back at a BSB meeting. I think I might go because it's cheap and I am not a serious enough fan to pay the £100s on race weekend and the £17+ parking fee [emoji857][emoji857][emoji857] Quote
Guest Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I watched the qualifying for the race tomorrow. How can a sport which should one of the most exciting be so dull. They changed the gualifying so it's a knockout system. It means no cars on the track now for long lengths of time YAWN Quote
Guest Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Been a massive F1 nerd for the past 10+ years, getting a bit bored of it now. Won't be going back to Silverstone, done the 3 day weekend thing camping In the pissing down rain.. Never again.I've got holiday in at work for 10th July (British GP) so still might go for a 2-day race weekend, not sure. Quote
MR_W Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I went the year before they ditched the v8s. It was a lifetime dream come true as I have been watching f1 for about 25 years die hard.I switched off qualifying before q3 finished. I'll probably stick to motogp, wsbk and bsb until the FIA leaves the rules alone for a bit. And the HALO they plan to put on turns F1 into a bit of a wuss sport. How long till motogp gets a roll cage round the rider if this goes ahead? Just removes the risk element that makes them seem super heroes. Quote
Six30 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I remember going out Brands hatch , they was testing or doing something with an F1 car , it was in Mansells hey day, it might of even been Mansell driving it , can't remember , but what I do remember is the noise of the car , proper loud. Quote
Guest Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I went to the last of the "noises f1" cara generation at Silverstone, 3 years ago? 4? The more I look into what happened today the less I think I'll go for 2 days and maybe just race day. Quote
baggy Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 They now sound like Vauxhall Corsas racing Quote
Guest Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Haven't heard any in person yet but I'm not holding much hope. I will never forget that first time I went to the F1 and getting out the car and just feeling the noise of the cars hitting your chest and stomach and you weren't even on the grand stands yet! Quote
