seanycozzie16v Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 well fixed one of the electricial problems i had recently which was a problem with the neutral safety sensor. turns out it was the side stand/indicator relay. somehow its linked to the neutral sensor. anyways. having a weird issue from the day i got the bike. sometimes it wont start using the starter button. it turns over and all but just wont fire. flick the kill switch and turn the ignition off and on a few times and it then starts. sometimes its easier to put the bike in 2nd push it let the clutch out and it fires straight up. sometimes you have to flick the kill switch on and off while pushing it in 2nd. a weird issue! so anyone ever come across something like this before? eastanglianbiker Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 sounds like a dirty connection either in the kill switch ignition switch or even the side stand switch if it has one Quote
seanycozzie16v Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 both been checked all working. i should say that the bike will turn over but it wont spark. give it a wee push in 2nd though while flicking the switch it roars right up! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 sounds odd to me it could be the starter motor drawing to much power and not allowing the coil to spark but if you are having to flick the kill switch then i would say thats where you got to looks at or in the wiring from it Quote
seanycozzie16v Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 its really odd because sometimes it fires right up! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 well to confirm the spark as you have got a spare set of spark plugs for it as y ou have fitted new ones if you hit the starter button and it wont fire up before fiddling with switch just plug a spare plug into the plug lead and see if it is sparking or not Quote
seanycozzie16v Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 putting it down to a naff battery. pop my battery booster on it and it fires up nearly every single time. new battery me thinks whats recommended? in it atm is a varta agm ytx7lbs Quote

seanycozzie16v Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 heard real good things about them! supposedly you can throw them straight into the bike with no charging required? no acid or water to add either. may be a bit more expensive but i hear they are worth it! Quote

seanycozzie16v Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 gave the battery a proper trickle charge last night and that seemed to rectify the problem! bike starts on the button every single time now! also the fuelling issue i had seemed to disappear overnight!!! Quote
Stu Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 best check your charging system while you are at it Quote
