Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hi everyone, Having some issues with my Datatool Duo immobiliser.I can't get the bike anywhere to get it removed as I can't get it to disarm. I had read about using some paperclips in certain points but either my immobiliser is wired up differently or something is really dodgey. Anyone have any suggestions/work arounds to be able to get the bike up and running again?Cheers. Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 follow the wiring and remove it joining back up the immobilised points they are more hassle than they are worth! Quote

Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 thats all part of the learning process they are usually fairly straight forward! you will have two points that are immobilised and they do it by cutting a wire at two points and attaching the immobiliser then when you disarm the immobiliser it just completes the circuit the two points are usually away from each other Sometimes they use the fuel pump live feed and the starter circuit they will do something like this ........see crappy diagram Immobiliser wires are always black its just a case of removing them and re joining the cut wires Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Trip to halfrauds to pick up a cheap crimper and some butt connectors after work then. Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 please god no! buy a soldering iron and do the job right Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 please god no! buy a soldering iron and do the job right hahahahaha.... there is right and then there is what is safest for me. So you reckon solder and then tape? or solder then hot glue gun to provide insulation? Quote

Remeber to slip the heatshrink on before joining the wires. You don't use a hot glue gun to insulate wires !! Haha Quote

Heatshrink? http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/fuses-electricals-fixings/halfords-assorted-heatshrink-tubing-hfx531" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;what do you heat it with to shrink it? (I don't have a hairdryer or anything like that) Edited June 2, 2016 by Anonymous Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 yeah heat shrink is best if you have never used a solder iron then practice first to make sure you get it right Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Last time I soldered anything was probably 14 years ago so yeah I'll practice first. Quote
Joeman Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hold the hot end of the soldering iron under the heatshrink and it will shrink. Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I use a lighter to shrink the heatshrink dont hold it still too long though Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Well so far so good. I've cut it out at least.... Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Cheers for instilling a little confidence in me haha it went a long way.Successful removal and bike is working fine, all lights etc are good. Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 excellent Just shows how easy these things are to remove really! couple of hours and it was out! Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 excellent Just shows how easy these things are to remove really! couple of hours and it was out! Yeah if I managed it haha.Is it normally wired into indicators/break lights etc? Seemed odd to me that they were included in the whole thing. Quote
Stu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Yes they are do the indicators flash when you touch the fob on? I am pretty sure the Due can be upgraded to take an alarm too Quote

Glorian Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Think mine was a Duo.. The bloody thing never worked it stayed on all the time! Sometimes took 20minutes to start the f**kin bike haha.Removing mine was a ballache.. it was wrapped around so many other wires from end to end i had half the bike in pieces to remove it. Quote

I think into total mine was spliced into 5 wires, so wasn't too bad. Quote
mozza83 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Datatools are a pain in the ass! When I bought my bike I remember thinking "oh, its got an alarm fitted, that's good". How little did I kno...Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk Quote
funinacup Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hmm this is worrying! The speed four has a datatool system 3 installed. It's working fine but it's very sensitive. Once I pass I'll have the bike parked on the street and I'm worried it'll constantly be going off. I don't want to turn it off as that kinda defeats the purpose of having a blaring alarm... Quote

The main problems I have are it has a mind of its own sometimes when I try to enable/disable non standard features, like service mode for exampleSent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk Quote
