Remy Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I've got a Garmin Zumo 660 for the bike and am thinking of replacing with a TomTom Rider 410, as I'm finding the Garmin screen very hard to see (and I don't use bluetooth - just go by the map!). I've got a TomTom for the car and it has a pretty bright screen.Anyone got the TomTom 400/410? How are you finding it and what's the screen like in sunlight? Quote
Stu Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I believe deso has the rider 400 I have a garmin zumo 590 and can't complain about the screen Quote
fullscreenaging Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 The screen is fine in direct bright sunlight. I can see it with no problems even with sun at my back and I'm having trouble reading the LCD dash in the bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
jamesstone Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I had a V5(still in the drawer) and am using a 400 now. As mentioned above, the software has been upgraded and now does what I expect of a sat nav. Having used Tom Tom units in the past, this new unit is faster on recalculating route changes etc. , the side bar shows petrol stations and distance to same along the route. The routes can be planned as before and downloaded via usb to the 400 (been using TYRE route planner for years), there is also a micro sd port which can also be used to download / store routes. I have the 660.. and use it visually. ie.. sound is permanently muted.to deal with the glare from the sun.. I added a 'glare stomper'£10 from ebay. http://tinyurl.com/zmau4bk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Quote
Guest Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Just bought an Tom Tom rider 400... Bit of a silly question.... How do we know when the battery is full or what its level is? The user manual only says the device will tell you when it's low and nothing seems to appear on the screen when I connect it to my PC Does it at least notify you when its full so you know when to unplug it? Quote
JRH Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 A quick look at the manual and it would seem you have to go to the main menu screen to see the battery level.HTH Quote
Guest Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 All I can find in the main menu under "battery" is an option to put the device to sleep automatically when not plugged...But a small battery icon has appeared on the up right corner of the screen which wasn't there before. I guess it means it's full... EDIT: the battery symbol stays now, as well as the time and date... It looks like it appeared when I updated the device with MyDrive.I knew it was a silly question anyway Quote

Guest Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 No such thing as a silly question, only a silly answer Yeah, right, that's what I tell to my students too... But come on, of course there are, like asking a question before completing the proper setup of a device cos you're too excited about your new bike toy and you dream about the great rides you're gonna do Quote

What a silly question. rtfm Quote
