After reading some recommendations on another bike site for the ccbetter decided to get one. Its OK, good playback. Only complaint is the battery life. Only lasts an hour. Get two batteries, so OK if commuting to work in less than an hour. But seeing lots of helmet cam vids on facebook, some were able to to film the run from Dunton to Harwich. Much longer than an hour. I was disappointed when downloaded the memory card, to find only frames of my ride back solo.

So does anyone know of an helmet cam that lasts much longer than the ccbetter?

Drift cameras last for about 3 hours. I imagine a go pro would be similar

Saw one in CurrysPCworld today when looking in camcorder section. May go back and have another look now I know what it can be used for.

I bought a drift stealth 2, about 3 hours filming, not bothered about the warranty, so i opened it up and connected a mic lead, which just connects to helmet microphone, should i wish to use it.

if i leave it unplugged it record silent footage, without this mod, the camera just picks up ear bleeding wind noise,

also fitted a power socket as i can mount the camera on the bike connect a power lea an it will just keep running... very happy with it.

I have the Gopro session and use it like a dash cam.

It's either on my helmet or on the bike.

It's very small but only lasts about 2hrs.The quality is ok for a £150 camera.

Can't be powered by an external supply in the wet though, as the socket is behind a waterproof door on the side.

I use the Stealth 2 and really like it. The recording time is ample for routine use and the ability to rotate the lens if it's swapped between different mounts is great. I currently put up with the wind noise but would like to add a mic to add commentary. Was it an easy job to connect the mic lead?

I don't fancy spending £250 on the bigger Ghost when the mic is the only failing I've found on the Stealth.

Stand alone battery time 1-2 hrs depending on quality

I know two people who got cams for their bikes in the last six months. They both decided they were now the new Bay/Spielberg/whoever. I've added video footage of bike rides to my Room 101 list.
