Stu Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I would be drying the plug/plugs out as you won't be getting a decent spark with wet plugs or better still replace Quote
Mr Fro Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 If you're changing the plugs it might be worth upgrading to NGK iridium. Mine was a slag to start until I fitted a set of those. Now it starts no problem and they last a lot longer than standard. Quote

hardleydavidson Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 I am officially an idiot.Old tank was rusty so I removed it an fitted a new tank with new petcock, filter and lines. Fuel flows freely to the carb and I have all the things I need to get it to start and it doesn't. Removed the carb carefully so as to not spill any fuel over myself, again removed the bowl carefully and put to one side without spilling any fuel. cleaned the jets and checked the float height, reassembled carefully and reattached to the bike, still nothing. Charged battery, checked plug, removed air filter, still nothing. No shutoff issues either. It's working now, can you see what I missed? Quote
hardleydavidson Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 At no point did I drain the carb bowl, old fuel was sitting in there. Grrrrrrr, lesson learnt. Quote
