nicklucey Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Hi all,Front tyre loses about 10psi over the course of a week, will be fine for a number of days but if sat for a week will need air. Back tyre absolutely fine over the same period. Can't find any evidence of damage, have sprayed some soapy water over it to try and find a leak, no joy.Any thoughts? Would some kind of sealant help?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
thebiglad Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Have you got alloy wheels on your bike? Are the balance weights the type that clip to the wheel rim? Quote
nicklucey Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Pretty sure they're stick on weights, and don't think they're alloys. Plastic/mags or something like that I think without checkingSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Guest Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Soapy water needs applying liberally, ideally with the wheel off. Make sure you get it well into the beads. Around the valve and also take the valve cap off Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Wheel off and stand in a bath full of water - wait - wait. if no air bubbles, turn to cover the next area and repeat until you find the leak. Mark with crayon and get it fixed.Make sure the water covers the rim 7 bead as well as the valve (cap must be off). Quote
fq-craigus Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 As above put the whole wheel in water if there is a leak you will indeed find it. You may just have a bad seal on the bead or a leaving valve both very standard fixes for a tyre shop won't take long at all Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Quote
TimR Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Note on instructions above .... Immerse wheel as it stands vertically not horizontal as this will immerse wheel bearings in water Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Note on instructions above .... Immerse wheel as it stands vertically not horizontal as this will immerse wheel bearings in water I'd have thought that was obvious by my description but.... best to be sure! Quote
mas101 Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 If there is nothing obvious, Id get the tyre refitted - tll them you've a low leak and they should make sure the inner rim bead is clean and free of either corrosion or flaking paint Quote
