Advanced rider courses

Nowhere do any editions say "Must" or "Will" only "Consider" as everything is flexible.

Tools not rules... If only more observers would understand that. Some have the associate acting like a performing monkey, for the benefit of the person riding along behind.

I have to agree with this in a limited degree.....I work in education and have always found that some fellow educators rely on a "do it by numbers" approach as it makes it easier for them and to be fair, some "learners" need this kind of approach (but I only feel that this should be in the beginning until a level of confidence has been achieved). However this approach will often lead to the learner stuck with the system taught and unable to "think outside of the box" which in terms of motorcycle riding leave them potentially vulnerable in many scenarios.

On a personal level I find it is the way that education, at all levels has progressed, possibly including the new IAM "Roadcraft" observer training standards which are governed by the IMI an organisation that I have little respect for, but time will tell.
