cowjumper Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I have just got a varadero xl125 2006 I need to replace the starter motor on the bike but having issues locating it if any one could tell me where abouts on the bike it is it would help a lot Quote
megawatt Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Find the heavy positive cable from the starter solenoid. Trace it back to the engine.? Quote
oldgrump Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Hi and welcome, starter motor fitted at front of engine, remove from l/h side of engine, may have a small plastic cover over it. Quote
cowjumper Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 thanks found it second part to this if it's stuck what's the best way of getting it off the bike if it's stuck as I'm not 100% on trying the heavy handed approach just yet Quote
oldgrump Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 hi, they shouldn't really get stuck, take out the two bolts on l/h side of motor, then just wiggle it free pulling to l/h side, if you have any w/d forty, then spray close to r/h end where it goes in engine, may help O ring, to loosen up. ok Quote

This will have to be exposed for reassembly so its probably best to have a look before pulling the motor out just to get an idea where everything sits. Quote

So wiggle and pull like Oldgrump correctly advised. Quote
