Rodders Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I'm about to put an order through at Sportsbikeshop, and need something >£6 to be able to use a discount code I have.I don't have a bike yet, or any security equipment for when I do get a bike, and I saw a few disc locks for little money. I wondered if they were a good idea or not for carrying around when nipping into the shops etc?https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/74349Or, can you suggest something else to spend £6 on? I'm buying waterproof trousers, I've thought about cleaning products, visor wiper, neck warmer etc. Quote
Guest Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 A £6 disc lock.....is it made of cheese or chocolate? Yummy. Seriously, I would spend it on some thing useful like ear plugs or a scarf. You get what you pay for.....and £6 ain't a lot.... Quote
Rodders Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 That's what I thought, but then there are a few options out there under £10 and the reviews are positive. But I wonder how often I'll be out without a more serious lock. I mean, given that I intend to have some way of carrying serious security for day trips then I may as well use that all the time.OK, so neck scarf might be the best option. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Those things are a bit of a menace - unless you attach a lanyard to it that wraps around the throttle you will one day try riding off with it attached to the disc and end up lying in the road with the bike on top of you. Quote
SlowBusa Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I have One of these little locks Dont let the price fool you! They are Excellent! you can carry them ANYWHERE because they are SO Tiny!Because of the Price they are seriously under estimated I bought it after a bike magazine recommended it.......you really cant go wrong for the priceThe key to security is to layer itmine is below#1 tiny disc lock#2 substancial disc lock#3 throttle/brake clamp#4 clutch clamp#5 alarm (connected to Air horns)#6 GPS tracker (battery backup)#7 CCTV (1 hidden 1 on show) Quote
Arwen Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 For £6, I'd say buy a buff/neck warmer if you have not already got one. Otherwise, stock up on chain lube, cleaner or acf-50. Quote
Guest Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 If you get a disc lock don't forget to get a reminder cable. Quote
Rodders Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 I ordered a neck scarf thing. But I'm going to consider those cheap disc locks for a future purchase. Quote

Mawsley Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Put two or three in a sock and you have an instant bike-jacking deterrent. Quote
