Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Hello guys. I have an EU licence and I already have the AM category, do I still need to take a CBT in order to ride in UK? Quote
Tango Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Welcome to TMBF mate. ....... Yes, you'll need to do a CBT I think..... Quote
Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Well.. it seems like I need a cbt to get a full AM licence, but I already have it.. i was allowed to ride on any other eu country without any other things.. i am not even able to take cbt if i dont have uk licence or provisional licence. Tango Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 AM is just for mopeds.......and, if you passed your car driving test before a certain date you can ride a moped with L-plates without doing a CBT....... Quote
Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Ye.. I just want to ride a 50cc moped. I know that in any european country you are allowed to if you have the am cat Quote

Joeman Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 When did you pass your car driving test? If before 2001 then you don't need a CBT. Quote
Joeman Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Try this https://www.gov.uk/driving-nongb-licence Quote
Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 No, it wasn't before, but as I said I have the AM Category. Why would I need to take a CBT? Sorry for repeating this question, but I want to start a job as a deliveroo scooter driver as soon as possible.. Thanks Quote
Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 It says "You can drive any type of vehicle listed on your full and valid licence" Quote
SlowBusa Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 With a Car licence you can ride a 50cc moped with "L" Plates (No Pillion)I Think im right in sayingYou can Drive/ride for upto 12 month from date of entry to UKIf your worried why dont you ask the Police? www.askthe.police.ukYou can then put your mind at rest Quote
SlowBusa Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Or ring them on "101" from a phoneThey will be happy to answerAt least your asking instead of pleading ignorance Quote
someone Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 A CBT is only required to endorse the AM and A1 categories to be able to ride on the road as a learner. So if your licence already has the AM category then you can ride mopeds of the appropriate power without CBT or restrictions. But I would be more worried about whether an insurer will accept you riding for commercial purposes on a foreign licence. Mitru Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Do you think I will not be able to be insured with an eu licence? Quote
SlowBusa Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Wont you be riding on Deliveroo insurance? Quote
Bertie83 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 With Deliveroo you need your own food courier insurance Quote
someone Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Do you think I will not be able to be insured with an eu licence? I have no idea, but insurance companies are not known for their relaxed attitudes!Riding in a different country on the opposite side of the road and with commercial pressures to keep to time it is easy to imagine them considering you as quite a risk. Especially when it is probably not a common situation that many underwriters may decided they are just not interested in covering it.There is a Bikesure thread at the top of the main Motorbike Chat section of the site, you can ask there for advice from an actual insurer. Or just call one and ask for a quote, there is no commitment and you will find out if it is possible or possibly too expensive. Quote

Stu Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Any restriction codes next to that AM?Post a photo of the back of your licence! The last thing you want is to get it wrong and have the wrong information Quote
