Hi All,

I have a 2004 Honda CBR600RR which has been sat in the garage for a few years now, I had been starting every now and again to make sure all was well but the battery died and it sat for 6 months plus.

I went to start it this weekend jumping it off the car and it turns over fine but would not fire up an I realized that the fuel pump was not priming so I put a 12 volt feed directly to the pump and it does not run, I checked I have power to the pump and here is volts there for a minute when you turn on the kill switch and the sender unit operates fine.

Looked at a new unit and the price is unreal so was wondering if you can change just the pump and where, what one is best?

Written on the base of the pump housing that I removed from the fuel tank is-- 16700-MEE-003

I would upload pictures but can't get it to work.

I got a cheap one off eBay when I needed mine. So easy to replace. Just make sure that you fully drain the fuel before taking it out

But that doesn't solve the 12v feed to the battery and still not running issue!

By any chance the kill switch hasn't been flicked? That stops the fuel pump priming.

There's power to the unit, I have now removed the pump from the tank, just need to work out how to test that the pump is faulty and check that power is getting from the connection outside the tank to the pump, its getting to the fuel level sender unit as the dash read out goes nuts if I have pump unit unplugged.

If pump not spinning with 12v attached direct it's safe to say it's dead.

If it's a 2 terminal pump (V+ and 0v connections only, no immobiliser/ECU enable) then it's probably just a buggered pump.

Second hand jobbie will most likely fix it. It happened on my wifes CBF125, it made a loud buzzing for a while and then gave up. Yours might have been jammed up with old fuel deposits, and has either glued itself stuck, or the motor burnt out trying to spin up with too much load on it.
