hey all ,

Glad ive found this ..

Can anyone give me some ideas of an ongoing problem ive had the last 3 summers

Triumph daytona 1200 1995 ,

runs superb ,, untill the sun comes out and theres a warm day , if i hit traffic or lights she goes right into the red boils up

and loose all my fluid ,, obviously cuts out alot at this stage ,, clangs like mad when trying to start

OK THIS IS WHAT IVE TRIED ,,, new water pump ,, new thermostat ,, around 4 rad caps ,, the fan kicks in no problem everytime she gets hot ,, actualy the fan kicks in nice and early ,, the radiator and hoses are all good ,,

thing is i can ride it all day and giving it some , in the hot weather or cold ,, imout of ideas now ,, its a nightmare as i often go out with alot of other bikes , kind of kills me day ,, also she gets choked at around 5 to 6 grand sounds like a plug ,, but its not because it wont happen if its a cool day ??

Please if anyones got any ideas ,, be very much appreciated ,,, thankyou Jim

Don't suppose it could be a head gasket issue? I would of thought if it was it would be a problem all year around but might be worth a check!

I answered in your introduction thread, but it's deffo worth burping it by squeezing the top hose several times, as you can get airlocks in the water jacket which will give you the symptoms you've described. ...... 8-)

You are actually filling the entire cooling system and not just the expansion tank ? I've read of people who think that the expansion tank is where you put the coolant into the bike but I would recommend filling directly into the rad cap and then topping up the tank afterwards.

Another thought, maybe part of the radiator is blocked off thus making it less efficient . Perhaps some skinflint repaired it with Radweld and it actually worked for once but blocked off several of the crossflow pipes.

Lastly, does the water pump function as effectively as it should ? Maybe you can temporarily put ordinary water in the system then run the engine with the return hose off to see what volume it chucks out .
