Snod Blatter Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Thought I'd post that "The Vic" in Coalville is having their annual charity ride this Sunday, in their words:"MEET AT THE VIC FROM 12 NOON for a 1.30 departure ---- on return free soup and a roll - bonfire - plus 2 solo acts -- £5 per bike plus donation from passengers - all proceeds to Rainbows Childrens Hospice"I've done it a few times, s'alright I guess but people seem to come from miles around to take part. Details of the route can be found here, I can offer no insight on the solo acts though - that bit is new! Perhaps an effort to keep people (and their wallets) at the pub for a bit afterwards and not just riding off straight after. Also it is always suitably cold, obviously.Anyone interested? Quote
Snod Blatter Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 Just tell Henry it's for charity, I'm sure he'll understand.. Quote
Snod Blatter Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 Well, unlike you boring bunch of so-and-so's I went and had a perfectly agreeable time. Quite a few turned out, definitely more than last year which may be because it wasn't really that cold this time around!I ended up following a CB250RS which made my day, proper bike that! Also definitely did not race a 68 plate Golf GTI. Definitely did not amaze the driver that an F reg BMW can pick up its skirt and fly. That definitely never ever happened. Quote
brad93 Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Looks like you picked a good weekend for it, surprisingly decent weather for January! Maybe you’ll have another member joining next year if I pass my DAS when I actually book it Quote
Snod Blatter Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 If you get yourself a 125 in the meantime don't be put off, I think we only hit 60MPH a couple of times and the rest is decidedly relaxed.. All group rides seem to be the same. Quote
Snod Blatter Posted January 4, 2020 Author Posted January 4, 2020 This is on again tomorrow in case anyone's bored. I won't be going though, I've foolishly agreed to go stand around at a heritage train station trying to find something interesting about a row of Lister stationary engines instead. Quote
